Hotel Royal in Munchen

Location is excelent and many small restaurants and groceries that opens until more than 20:00. This is the time where everything is closed in Munich. All transportation is at 100 metres.
Just to consider that this is the beginning of a red zone.
Finally, cleaning service of the hotel a disaster. People of the restaurant are quite good.

Pretty standard rooms, clean and spacious. The only issue is the location, don’t let the pictures fool you when you walk around this area it’s like a scene straight out of the film city of god. Apart from the slum lords, sleeping drunks and clientele from several nearby brothels which litter the street, the hotel is in a nice spot right by the central train station, walking distance from the city centre and if you are hungry for doner there are simply too many options to choose from. I’d say book this hotel if you like cheap rooms, an adrenaline rush and aren’t afraid of getting a tetanus shot or two. I also had an interesting experience when the housekeeper flung open the door as I sat on the toilet, after letting out a shout he told me that he had my towels, despite my best efforts to explain that I was on the toilet in my boxers he simply kept reiterating that he had my towels. Even though I was grateful for the towels I was a little taken back by the enthusiasm with which he wanted to give them to me. After collecting myself and taking the towels from the outstretched hand that had entered my room, I asked him how to lock my door from the inside, however he seemed to not have the time to explain as he quickly scurried away without remark holding only an annoyed look on his face.

Really good location, besides being in a red light district. I didn't have any feelings of being unsafe, but may be a concern for other travellers. Room has no AC, so it's sweaty until the sun sets, and the noise on the street means window can't be left open overnight. Other wise the room is soundproof.

Very basic room but the bed was comfortable, everything was clean, shower pressure was good. Lots of food options around and transit. All the staff were fantastic, and the included breakfast was a good spread including hot options. I'd consider it a good value for unfussy people.
