Hestia Hotel Europa

We stopped in Tallinn for 1 night before going to Helsinki by ferry, hotel location for this was excellent: just 5-7 min walk from the terminal. There is also a shopping center right across so that is also great. Walk to old city center is about 15-20 min but it's ok & manageable.
Staff was exceptional, very polite & helpful. We also got a free room upgrade (I guess they were overbooked on our room type) which was also a great way to handle overbooking & we're grateful for this.
Breakfast was fantastic with a lot of cold cuts, vegetables, fruit, ice cream(!), herring, salmon, meat, porridge, pastries & desserts, few kinds of juices, an espresso machine, teas, etc. Very good breakfast for the foodies.
Storage room is very secure & staff locks it - thank you!
View over a harbor & boats was a very nice touch & was relaxing.

This hotel is in a perfect location. Great view of the city and the port from our balcony. Having a balcony was great and we could have coffee and drinks there too.
5 mins walk from the port terminals and 10 mins from the city. Modern hotel with comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. Breakfast was very good. Only thing missing was poached or fried eggs! Do take a day trip to Helsinki - the ships are like cruise ships! The hotel gave me a complimentary fruit platter and bottle of rhubarb fizz for my birthday- thank you!

Fairly good hotel for price. 10min walk from Trams (south) and sea (north). Old town within reach as well. Breakfast is ok. Bedroom is spacious and comfortable. Good shower

Overall a nice-ish experience

Pros:
- Excellent breakfast, a lot of choices - one of the best we had in our stays in hotels
- Across the street there is a mall, which is very nice.
- Behind the hotel there is also a nice small playground near the bridge which my daughter loved
- Very careful staff at the breakfast area, cleaning and refilling constantly
- They provided a small gift for our daughter at the checkin: one kinder chocolate egg and a small juice. I appreciated the gesture, however we do not give her this type of sweets, so I would suggest offering some healthy choices as well
- Appreciated the free of charge cot in our room

Cons
- The bathroom shampoo was completely empty. We had 2 nights stay and we hanged the door sign to clean up the room the next day mostly for filling in the shampoo. We came back in the room at 3pm and there was no change. Almost at 4pm someone knocked the door, but of course we did not want to clean the room with us inside, we came to rest a bit.
- Cleaning of the room was not done properly at all
- Water at breakfast was probably tap water, not good at all.

We only stayed here for a night as we didn't make on time for the ferry. So we can't comment much, but overall experience was nice, staff friendly, check in smooth, location great but what deserves a special note is extensive breakfast buffet (better than some 5* high end hotels). We were very pleasantly surprised. Also there is a free morning sauna which we didn't have time to use but next time would love to come back and fix it ;)

Great Hotel. Rooms with balcony has a great view. Room services on top. Clean cousy rooms. Definitely will stay again. Breakfast is very good. Extra services are available. Price is very good. Excellent place for couples.
