Reviews
With a pristine reef accessed by a jetty and 2 x 25m pools, swimming, snorkelling and diving was the order of the day.
As expected, my vegan diet was a mystery to the staff but there was a vast range of salads and always a vegetable rice or pasta. No milk alternative on offer though so black coffee or herbal tea at breakfast. The restaurant manager was very helpful and always checked I was catered for.
My only criticism was the lack of specific smoking areas. The outside eating area was usually full of smokers and inevitably we were wafted with their smoke. Not nice or healthy! Surely an area could be reserved for non-smokers? The same in our room - such a shame to go out on the balcony to be greeted with the smell of smoke from the room below ☹️
Staff were pleasant and usually quick to help. The employees offering excursions were quite forceful and pushy however.
For those interested in water activities, the resort has its own pier and dive team, which also conduct beginners lessons and excursions on various dives.
For those not particularly keen, the resort suffers from its remoteness. The night entertainment is non- existent and the nearest community is a 30-minute taxi away.
The resort itself is very clean and quiet, if you prefer that, boasting two pools, a hot tub and a private beach. There are also table tennis, volleyball, football pitches and a pool table.
The resort ostensibly has three restaurants however only one was operational during my visit. Similarly, there is a lobby bar and a beach bar - the others were also non operational.
I enjoyed our trip but felt a week was the perfect amount given the lack of activities. Maybe it is busier during the height of summer rather than when I went in early March (spring).
Remote hotel with comfortable rooms. Asked for a room overlooking pools so we paid a supplement for these.
You CANNOT enter the sea at the waters edge you have to go in off the jetty to protect the coral reefs. But beautiful sea life with moray eels and turtles.
Food in the 1st week was outstanding with beautiful varieties of salads, jacket potatoes, beef stews, bread rolls had roast peppers, caramelised onions in them. Far superior for its 4* rating. Sadly this was not replicated at all in the 2nd week. Why chips are served at breakfast time only we could not get to the bottom of and could not get the head chef to include them at lunchtime meals. Breakfast time (we took our own cereals) as not a great choice at the hotel. The young egg station chef had come over from Housekeeping and had no idea how to properly cook omelettes or fried eggs sadly.
Very good place for singletons to go to.
We were absolutely 'had' at booking a trip to Luxor. No duty of care regarding our safety. The chap selling excursions was very good at deflection not taking any responsibility for not advising us it would be around 50° and therefore to be prepared for such extreme heat. 2 people having made that trip ended up with sunstroke. Our maniac driver racing at 160kmp with another driver on the new road on the way back home put us in fear of being involved in an accident. Upon relaying our disgust to Roni the excursions chap we were compensated with a €1 gift of a camel and a pyramid from his boss. Basically got screwed over on that one so be aware!!
Overall, a very relaxing holiday but don't think we would do it again.
First of all, NOT for solo female travellers! A lot of unwanted ‘very heavy’ attention, staring, and approach. Totally disrespectful! An only men running place. Never felt so uncomfortable, and I travel solo often!
Food is a NO NO! Both variety and quality. I’m not fussy for food at all, I eat anything and everything, but it was just NO! I ate enough to keep standing.. and thankfully the tours I did offered lunch.
Wifi DOES NOT work! I mean, at all! I tried all the networks they have, and when it connected, would take forever to send a simple text message on whats app, and disconnected every few minutes.. So, make other arrangements for internet… if I’d known I definitely would have…
Air conditioner in the room worked, but in the common areas did not. Including the restaurant! Therefore, be prepared for heavy sweating while eating! And good luck. Unfortunately this hotel is the perfect definition of “you get what you pay for”… although, I can’t help but think in this case, was way overpaid.
*I don’t understand the good reviews, honestly.. people’s standards are a weird thing.. I truly wish I hadn’t believed them.. :(
Staff are cooperative at all and rude
Food is horrible. I got food poisoning
The property is nice rather than this is a nightmare. Do not recommend at all
