Palacio de los Duques Gran Meliá - The Leading Hotels of the World

From start to finish, my stay at Palacio de los Duques Gran Meliá was absolutely outstanding. Every detail felt intentional, elevated, and deeply caring. The service is where this hotel truly shines—everyone I encountered was warm, professional, and made me feel like royalty. The Red Level concierge went above and beyond to support me throughout my stay, helping with restaurant reservations, museum tickets, and venue coordination. Their attention to detail made my time in Madrid seamless and special.

The breakfast is an experience in itself—a gorgeous spread of gourmet offerings with a full à la carte menu included. It was a joy to start each day in that dining room.

My room was spacious, luxurious, and beautifully appointed. The freestanding bathtub and oversized shower felt like a private spa. Every element of the space—from the lighting to the bedding—was designed with comfort and elegance in mind.

The rooftop terrace is a dream. With sweeping views over the Royal Palace and the city skyline, it’s the perfect place to soak in the sunset, lounge by the pool, or unwind in the hot tub. It’s a rare kind of urban oasis.

And the Thai Room Spa deserves its own paragraph. I’ve never had a massage like the one I received there. It was a powerful, restorative mix of lymphatic drainage, deep tissue, Thai, and guided stretching. I returned for a second 90-minute session during my short stay—it was that good.

Location-wise, it doesn’t get better. The hotel is perfectly situated—just a two-minute walk from the Royal Palace and within easy walking distance to everything else central in Madrid.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It was one of the highlights of my entire trip. Truly a five-star experience in every sense.

The room we were in had one quirk - the bathroom had a speaker that played what was going on TV.
Other than that the breakfast buffet was great, the staff were very helpful and thorough. They gave great recommendations for food and local spots.
Definitely staying here again if we go back.

This elegant hotel is a delight from the moment guests arrive. A sensual fragrance is the first thing that hit us as we walked in, along with the towering ceilings and old world yet modern feel.
The hotel is packed with art work, some replicas of Spain’s greatest artists whjxh immediately creates a warm vibe.
The staff are next level. We had 3 female staff-2 Paula’s and Devin’s who were unbelievable helpful, kind and informed. We would not have had the stay in Madrid we did without their advice and tips.
The hotel has a shuttle to take you out -if it’s free, but the location of the hotel is in the middle of everything. It’s brilliant and a beautiful jogging path for mornings and the main shopping strip 2 minutes walk.
Incredible breakfast buffet, and the Spanish restaurant is one of Spain’s best.
There is a huge garden which is a delight in hot days. And the Thai spa is absolutely brilliant-makes such sense to have Thai people giving massages as they are so skilled.
The red room - an upgrade for suite guests and has snacks and free flow Ruinart. What’s not to love about that.
Beautiful modern rooms too, with separate bath and shower. We loved it. A very special hotel.

The hotel is conveniently located in the old part of Madrid, close to the Royal Palace and other main tourist attractions. This made it very easy to get around on foot, and the metro.
Hotel staff were especially friendly and helpful; our room was upgraded on check-in, which was totally unexpected and very much appreciated.
The room was large and spacious, but it did feel a little outdated. Compared to other hotels we stayed in during our European trip, we felt the room could do with some modernisation and updating, especially given the hefty price of staying in this hotel.
The common areas, lobby, lounges were very luxurious and the gardens beautiful.
The buffet breakfast was definitely a highlight, and the best we had experienced on our trip.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights, and it definitely served its purpose. However, it is expensive, most likely due to its location. We certainly expected a nicer room given the price we had paid, and the grandness of the hotel and its common areas.
We would definitely consider staying here again, particularly should the rooms be updated in the near future.

Fantastic luxury hotel, we stayed here at start of our Spain trip and at the end before leaving. Very comfortable rooms, great bathroom products, amazing service, and prime locations. On our second stay they gave us courtesy upgrade and sent a room amenity. Definitely would recommend if looking for a 4/5 star hotel in a great location.

Probably not enough good things I could say about this hotel.

The service, food and drink was as good as you would expect.

The rooms were big, well appointed and very clean.

The location was spectacular. It appeared to just be a 5 minute walk from every attraction that we wanted to see.

I hope I get to visit this gem again one day.

Service was spectacular down to the last detail. Staff was always respectful and kind. It is close to the main attractions but located far enough away that it is not busy the moment you walk out of the hotel. One of our favorite hotels and will definitely be back during our next visit to Madrid.

A stunning hotel with a very walkable, central location. We also enjoyed the roof top patio/pool. Great stop to take a siesta in between a day of activities and sightseeing. All you can eat breakfast was pricy as expected but you get a good selection of food.

I've visited this place many times, and it consistently exceeds my expectations. It's the perfect spot to take a break during a visit to Madrid. The historical artifacts and beautifully decorative ornaments add a unique charm to the atmosphere. I especially love their refreshing lemonade, and the desserts are simply exquisite. The various seating areas, furnished with delightful and comfortable designs, make the experience even better. The staff are always friendly and attentive, making each visit a pleasure.
