The Westin Palace, Madrid

Wow what a joke this place is. No class and no hospitality.

So many staff at the lobby almost crowded to some extent yet they provide no actual function - just standing there blocking the already narrow hallway (due to ongoing renovation) and barely smile and greet.

The receptionists were also unhelpful speaking broken English.

A cleaning lady rolled her eyes when we told her no cleaning needed in the room.

5-star hotel with such low standards but I guess it’s just what’s customary here lol

Visited the restaurant for afternoon tea, service is very very slow before someone brings over the menu! Then took another 39 minutes for afternoon tea to arrive.

I personally disappointed since this is a Westin hotel restaurant!

The afternoon tea pastry is not up to expectation for Westin Hotel , there are 3 sandwich , cheese, Salmon and Spanish ham , some restaurants offer a bid of celery, these sandwich are way too plain.

Do not enjoy the pastry , nothing visually attractive.

After all, I asked for the wifi password, they gave me the wrong password then disappeared completely after couple of attempts to give the correct login password.

The restaurant is not busy , only 3 tables therefore I cannot understand the reason behind the poor service.

One of the worst experiences. The hotel is undergoing a renovation, there was no mention of this when the room was booked, there is no posting about it on the website either. The construction work begins promptly at 7:30 am and goes on all day long, the construction workers yell at each other while working.
We stayed in a newly upgraded room that while visually looked lovely, did not function. There is no full length mirror, no towel hooks. Both the television and outlets did not work.
The walls are paper paper thin, you can hear detailed conversations your neighbors are having and hallways echo like crazy. The hotel staff are useless. Our coffee cups, coffee and towels were not replenished.
Our next door neighbor had a party in his room with guests that were not staying at the hotel from 12:30 am to 5:30 am, despite my 5 complaints all through the night, the staff did nothing about it.
Do not book this hotel, everything about it is a nightmare.

This is easily one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at in all of my travels. Not only is the staff unaccommodating, the hotel was under construction the entire time I was there, a fun little tidbit that no one informed me of prior to booking a room in this flimsy piece of architecture, that had such thin walls it felt like the jackhammers going at all hours of the day were directly in your room.

On top of that, don't even dare consider asking for special accommodations because your flight was delayed a full day and have had the 20 hour travel day from hell because they will be unsympathetic to anyone's plight besides their own bottom line. Also, better bring your walking shoes because although it touts being in the epicenter of all the action, one must climb a steep hill similar to Everest, for 15 minutes, before getting into the area where all the restaurants and shops are.

There are so many other, more affordable and centrally located hotels in the area, don't waste your time booking an establishment that is banking on their brand name recognition with little other value to add besides that.
