Reviews
Service is friendly
The breakfast buffet offers a large variety and delicious food.
The location is central.
When we got to our room, it was nicely appointed, with a good view. We noticed a smell from the bathroom that persisted throughout our stay. After using the shower, we speculated that the smell is from the lack of drainage for the water in the bathroom. Whenever we showered, despite our best efforts, water would get all over the floor and pool behind the toilet. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable and they gave several pillows to choose from.
Our first night, we asked the front desk for recommendations and Daniel kindly offered several for us. He was very polite and funny - he made us feel welcome. His recommendations were great as well!
When we came back to our room the first night, we were surprised with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We had noted it was our honeymoon on our reservation and it was very appreciated that they went above and beyond for us.
The breakfast had a lot of nice options, including eggs made to order how you want them. The prepared hot food could be better kept warm however. They have heat lamps on the dishes but they’re never actually hot, just warm.
Overall, the service is wonderful. Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. Our needs were always met. There are certain things lacking, like the smell from the bathroom and the fact that they charge you for a swimming cap (despite giving you a coupon for one free use of the pool area). This seems very cheap for what’s supposed to be a high end hotel.
It seems like some things could be updated despite the hotel presenting as upscale. Our bathroom had a speaker dial connected to the tv that was coming off the wall. When I went to grab a tissue. The whole box on the wall came with it. The shower in the women’s changing room by the pool did not drain well. I was standing in a puddle of water while taking a shower.
The gym has the basics - nothing fancy but we were able to exercise with the equipment that was provided. We were surprised to see a Smith machine in there.
The location can’t be beat. We were able to take the metro everywhere which was steps outside of the hotel. It was easy to get to retiro park, plaza mayor and other areas off the metro. That being said, I think we were close to a hospital because you could hear ambulances often. It was too loud to keep our windows open much.
Good breakfast.
But the windows are not sound proofing ( in a very busy and noisy area) , blinds are not installed well, and the bed is harder than usual, all this made it very hard to sleep for me and my family. Therefore I can’t give it 5 stars.
The breakfasts were great, as were the lunches and dinners.
I would like to say a special thank you to the whole team who welcomed us. They were really professional and went above and beyond to make our stay as great as possible, answering every request very quickly while being really friendly. They also came to check on us several times a day to make sure we were enjoying our stay and the conferences & workshops were going well. I have rarely had the pleasure of working with such a great team. I would like to say a special thank you to Hui & Maria who were both absolutely amazing. Thank you for everything!
Loudest hotel ever. Banging doors, voices, pounding music all night. It's mostly a meetings hotel so the parties and late-night shenanigans are frequent (including house music in the room above me that started pounding at 6:15 a.m.--about a half-hour after the guy next door shut his off for the night). Zero soundproofing and not even carpet to deaden a little of the din. No sleep for you. .
Besides that, this place is tired. Every porcelain thing in the bathroom is chipped. The half shower doors aren't caulked so there's a pond in the bathroom after every shower. The towel rack is about a foot and a half above the bidet so hanging a towel and keeping it clean is an act of physics. Our tub spout handle fell off. And everything is six times more complicated than it needs to be. Eleventy-hundred light switches. The shower is so hard to figure out that there are written directions posted on the wall. Elevators are shaky and sometimes out of order, with very long waits in the morning. WiFi is intermittent at best and slow even when it works. It's all expensive but the experience is cheap.
Pretty sure this hotel gave itself five stars. It's a solid two.
