Melia Princesa Hotel

I along with a group of nine fellow travelers stayed at the Melia Madrid Princesa during Spain's power outage on April 28, 2025. We returned to the hotel in the evening from our tour that day to find the hotel had emergency lighting, one elevator working AND offered a limited dinner menu with cooked food at the lobby bar along with tables set for dinner around the lobby. Most restaurants were closed so we were elated to see the hotel was offering hot meals. They even had free champagne (Cava) for us upon our arrival! The staff was amazing and worked very hard to make us feel at home. Our meals were excellent. I can't say enough about how the hotel and staff made our long day so very special! I also was impressed with the rooms. They are very well designed, good looking and very clean. I highly recommend this hotel. Thanks again to the staff who all had smiles on their faces after working so hard all day. We were all raving about our experience the next day. Melia Madrid Princesa is a fantastic choice for families who want comfort, convenience, and great service in the heart of Madrid. We upgraded our room and took full advantage of the free breakfast and daily tapas in The Level lounge—an absolute game-changer with kids. It meant fewer frantic restaurant searches and more time relaxing.

The service throughout the stay was exceptional. Thoughtful touches like complimentary water, a welcome treat upon arrival, and well-stocked amenities made us feel genuinely cared for. The breakfast was better than expected, with plenty of made-to-order options, and the tapas in the afternoon were the perfect snack between outings.

The pool is stylish and peaceful, but it’s not super kid-friendly—limited to six people at a time and requires a reservation, so we only used it once. The gym is there if you need it, though it’s pretty underwhelming (I usually skip hotel gyms anyway).

What really makes this hotel shine is the location—walking distance to just about everything. Be aware that noise travels even up to the ninth floor, but they provide earplugs and eye masks, which is a nice touch.

Overall, Melia Madrid Princesa delivers a thoughtful, well-rounded stay with upscale touches and one of the best locations in the city.

A big shoutout to Sophie for all the food recommendations and to Monserrat for giving me both Pilates recommendations as well as being my interpreter when I was looking for a laundromat. All of the ladies there were so helpful!

Very good hotel with an amazing breakfast buffet which fs large and varied. Great staff and location.

I wanted to highlight the staff again and in particular Jorge who is one of the bellman. He was incredible throughout our stay! Very accommodating and always at the ready to provide anything that we needed. Thank you Jorge.

Also, my sincere thanks to Sophia who works at the front desk. We were fortunate enough to stay at this hotel for a full week and Sophia was amazing! Incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. Thank you Sophia for making our stay a memorable one.

Excellent hotel with all the amenities and staff who are completely bilingual. Was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff that provided me with a map and personal take on the nearby attractions to see. Centrally located with delicious food including the breakfast that made walking around very convenient. Room service was on time and of wonderful quality. Would reitun and recommend to others.

We checked in early before our room was ready, and they kindly held our bags for us so we could go eat.

When we got to our room, it was nicely appointed, with a good view. We noticed a smell from the bathroom that persisted throughout our stay. After using the shower, we speculated that the smell is from the lack of drainage for the water in the bathroom. Whenever we showered, despite our best efforts, water would get all over the floor and pool behind the toilet. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable and they gave several pillows to choose from.

Our first night, we asked the front desk for recommendations and Daniel kindly offered several for us. He was very polite and funny - he made us feel welcome. His recommendations were great as well!

When we came back to our room the first night, we were surprised with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We had noted it was our honeymoon on our reservation and it was very appreciated that they went above and beyond for us.

The breakfast had a lot of nice options, including eggs made to order how you want them. The prepared hot food could be better kept warm however. They have heat lamps on the dishes but they’re never actually hot, just warm.

Overall, the service is wonderful. Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. Our needs were always met. There are certain things lacking, like the smell from the bathroom and the fact that they charge you for a swimming cap (despite giving you a coupon for one free use of the pool area). This seems very cheap for what’s supposed to be a high end hotel.

It seems like some things could be updated despite the hotel presenting as upscale. Our bathroom had a speaker dial connected to the tv that was coming off the wall. When I went to grab a tissue. The whole box on the wall came with it. The shower in the women’s changing room by the pool did not drain well. I was standing in a puddle of water while taking a shower.

The gym has the basics - nothing fancy but we were able to exercise with the equipment that was provided. We were surprised to see a Smith machine in there.

The location can’t be beat. We were able to take the metro everywhere which was steps outside of the hotel. It was easy to get to retiro park, plaza mayor and other areas off the metro. That being said, I think we were close to a hospital because you could hear ambulances often. It was too loud to keep our windows open much.

The rooms are big and clean, well equipped. Location and service is great.

But the windows are not sound proofing ( in a very busy and noisy area) , blinds are not installed well, and the bed is harder than usual, all this made it very hard to sleep for me and my family. Therefore I can’t give it 5 stars.

I loved my stay here. From start to finish I was impressed by the kindness and quality of service from each staff person. The moment my cab came in, an attendant approached to help me with my bag and brought it up to my room for me. The front desk was super kind and helpful with giving me an overview of the accommodations and answering my questions about the area. Manu was especially a ray of sunshine and made me even more excited for my time in Madrid. The location was perfect--I was able to walk to most places and they have a cab stand just outside the hotel and are a two minute walk from the metro. I didn't use the spa because 40 minutes felt insufficient and reserving a time slot felt like a hassle but there were so many other things I wanted to do, I didn't feel like I missed out by not using it.
