Aquila Atlantis Hotel

The hotel looks a bit dated but still okay. The staff are very nice and warm. The breakfast buffet was also very good with a wide variety. Room was clean and spacious.

The hotel is very good, just a dozen minutes walk from the museum!
Hygiene: Very good!
Environment: Comfortable!
In the central city, there are dedicated parking spaces, which is very convenient for travel!
The price-performance ratio of the room is also very high, and the breakfast is also very good!

The review is just so so and the pool is quite small. Location is great , easy to walk to the museum, central bus station and the old town area. Don't expect it as a 5 star hotel, then everything will be ok.

The great service we experienced started as soon as we arrived with help getting luggage out and valet parking of hire car. This was very welcoming after having driven from Chania Airport to a strange place. When we checked in they had upgraded us which was a very pleasant surprise. We had already booked a harbour view room but room we got was bigger than expected still having that view. The only downside was the airport. It's almost directly underneath the flight path with planes taking off throughout day and night. The breakfasts are wonderful with a wide selection of fresh foods. Big thank yo
u to the lady who cooked our omelette every morning. Delicious. In fact a big thank you to all the staff from the maids who make the beds to the waiters and front desk workers. They are all a great team and made our stay memorable.

I found it very convenient as right next to pier and restaurants. Only stayed a night

Overall an enjoyable stay.

The hotel itself is a somewhat older building, but appears to have had some modernisation work done, although a bit more is required to be able to justify a 5-star rating.

Room: Top Floor Deluxe Room, Harbour

Pros
- Nicely spaced out room
- Balcony was large but not exactly harbour facing. It was quite far to your left but still a nice view.
- clean, comfortable beds, amazing shower
- fantastic breakfast, cooked perfectly and a good selection. Fresh omelettes were perfection.
- A special shout out to the friendly older doorman and the gentleman behind the bar. You're a credit!
- Most Staff were *generally welcoming and helpful
- Live Music in the evenings was quite nice.
- Parking available
- Rooftop Pool, could be larger but if you go when it's quiet it's quite nice. Loved the panoramic view from there.

Cons:
- *My partner thought that one or two staff members were somewhat abrupt and impolite. I didn't encounter it myself but perhaps something to think about.
- Elevators are somewhat cramped, I imagine claustrophobics may struggle.
- Flickering lights several times throughout stay and a full on power cut on one occasion
- Balcony door did lock me out for a while and I had to use quite a lot of force to get back in.
- Safe was not working. I did a test lock first luckily, so didn't have anything locked in. Flagged to hotel staff for review when I checked out.

NOT a 5 stars hotel. Important to know this when booking, it's more of a 3-4 stars. We had a superior room for a week, the hotel itself needs some updates, the room was clean but definetly not 5 stars. I'm only giving this review 4 stars because of the staff who was friendly, polite and the absolute best, they deserve 10 stars.

Stayed an extra day in Heraklion after Knossos palace so moved hotel, glad we did! Definately one of my better stays, breakfast was full service & endless, staff was brilliant- all of them!
Room was excellent, plenty of room to swing a cat, king bed with a selection of 5 PILLOW TYPES!! Mini bar was stocked & also meals/ drinks to room & pool areas. Roof top/ harbour view of Heraklion was great, see video. Walk to restaurants & shops 4 minutes, coffee shops within 3 minutes & tastes great!

I was really pleased with my stay at Aquila Atlantis hotel. Rooms are new and very clean. Staff and the management extremely nice and helpful! Excellent breakfast. Perfect location - Restaurants and historical landmarks nearby. I will definitely stay again here!
