DORMERO Hotel Budapest

My wife and I booked a 2 night stay at the Dormero 17-19th June. We contacted the hotel a few weeks prior to our stay to explain that we would not be arriving until approximately 2am on the 18th. Upon arrival we were told that our room had been given away because we had arrived after midnight. It did not seem to matter that we had contacted the hotel prior to this or that they had even acknowledged my email. I had to argue with the hotel manager for half an hour before we were finally given a room for our second night. We had paid for a double room with a king size bed; however, we were given a room with single beds. Not the romantic getaway we had planned. The hotel manager was quite aggressive, particularly towards my wife. I have no doubt that if it were two women making the same complaint, they would have ended up with absolutely nothing. The manager made it seem like he was doing us a favour. After our stay we contacted Hotels.com, who we made the booking with, to seek a refund. They contacted the hotel and Dormero advised that they would not be issuing any refunds. The hotel ultimately sold the room to two customers and got paid twice. It's absolutely ridiculous. It's very sad because the hotel itself is very nice and the location was great.
