Plaza Hotel Lucchesi

My husband and I stayed at Plaza Hotel Lucchesi for one night while on our honeymoon and could not have been more disappointed and appalled by the state of this hotel/its rooms. We paid about €750 for an upgraded room with a balcony which, albeit, did have a beautiful view, which was the only good thing about the room. The rest of the room was unbelievably grubby and, quite honestly, far worse than cheap hostels I’ve stayed in around the world, whereas I thought we were paying for luxury. The “chandelier” was broken and plastic, the walls had marks/stains on them, and the furniture was wildly outdated and worn out, and NOT in a stylistic vintage way… I don’t expect my hotel rooms to look exactly like the photos seen on Google, but this was wildly off and in a totally different league, resemblant of a grimy motel. It also came with two twin beds instead of the kind bed I asked for for our honeymoon stay… I’ve never EVER complained or written a review even of a hotel but, in this instance, I felt so duped that I had to say something and reported the state of our room to the front desk, who was very helpful and offered to move us to another balcony room which was luckily available. While this room didn’t have nearly the view of the other room, it at least didn’t have a broken chandelier and marks all over the walls, and had much higher ceilings. However, this time the couches were all disgustingly stained and the shower leaked all over the floor when used. We were previously debating staying a second night but, at the price of €750 and with zero discount offered despite the state of our room, we chose to go to a different nearby hotel for €420 a night, and about 20 times as clean/modern/upmarket. We felt like the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi has a beautiful roof view and, because of it, has rested on their laurels in terms of making any improvements or renovations to their hotel because of it, while still charging outrageous prices for what you get. The most disappointing hotel experience I’ve ever had.

Not thrilled about this stay, this will have been the 3rd city we visited within the last 2 weeks & this is the worst hotel by far. For many reasons. 1- it’s stupid expensive for the location 2- our hotel room was tiny and the view was of a set of pipes for the price we paid I will never book again. 3- they charged us for things we never ordered. 4- we tipped as we went for services but then got the bill and they included a optional “service charge” which was on the whole bill of even the room. Absolutely absurd for the quality of service. The only reason I gave this hotel any stars at all was because the roof top view was incredible. That’s it. Still I wouldn’t recommend for the price we paid.
