Crowne Plaza Florya Istanbul, an IHG Hotel

We have been staying at this hotel for 5 years and do not consider any other hotel. The hotel's location is excellent, situated right by the sea and next to the shopping mall. This made it very convenient for us to explore the area and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Additionally, it is located directly next to the Marmaray train station, which made it very convenient for us to quickly get to the centre.
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and look forward to our next stay.

Crown Plaza Florya may surprise you unexpectedly.
It is positioned as an oasis hotel in Istanbul. This is largely due to its location - closer to the outskirts, next to the old Ataturk Airport.
You won't be too bothered by the private jets that fly there now. It's even interesting to watch them.

Crown Plaza Florya has good rooms, although the floors are not washed.
Buffet breakfast rated "good".
Its own restaurant and room service are also “good”.
Clean pool and infrastructure next to it.
Smiling and trained staff.
So what's the problem with Crown Plaza Florya?
If you refused to use the paid minibar (asked to remove everything from it) and if you are from Russia, be prepared to be bullied by the department responsible for servicing minibars. You deprived them of their income and they will not forgive you for it. How?

They control the glasses in your room. This is not the maids' zone of influence. They will simply be taken from the room. Drink from tea mugs!
You will go to the Crown Plaza Florya reception several times and ask for the glasses to be returned to you. This may take a day! But when the glasses are returned to you, a day later they will be taken away again and you will beg them back.
They are telling you that you don’t pay us for the mini-bar and you come from Russia, so suffer!
You should buy paper cups, like we did, so that you always have something to drink from the water that is brought to your Crown Plaza Florya room every day.
In all my travels around the world, this is the first time I have seen this.

I had a wonderful time during my short stay at this five-star hotel. However, I believe that for the nightly rate, this hotel should be nearly immaculate, which it was not. Therefore, I am giving it a four-star rating.

The outdoor pool is lovely and very well-maintained. There are many helpful and friendly staff members.
The rooms and food are of good quality.

Rojhat did a great job cleaning my room and taking in additional accomodations I needed. Made the stay very welcoming. The breakfast is very large and well done with many options and some unique Turkish options that were fun to try. Overall good experience.

Direct view to the sea. Rooms clean and tidy. Directly located to a shopping mall with dozens of good restaurants at all prize levels. Beware, that there could be some very loud events on weekends, so you better ask for a room in Level 2 and avoid staying in level 4, as we did.

I liked the service.. everyone was so professional and friendly which create a pleasant atmosphere in the hotel .. I really thank the people at the reception, the security Arif at the door .. the friendly ladies at the breakfast buffet Yagumr. She is a great energy and brighten up the room and the professional man who cleans the floor in the buffet .. he cleans swiftly without interrupting our breakfast ..

Fantastic experience. Wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, great hotel food and bar. The bartenders know how to make great cocktails. Very friendly staff, always available.
Really appreciated there is no cigarette or smoke smell in the building at all which is rare in my experience.
Plan to stay again but during the summer next!

I was treated very professionally from first contact to end. The service was impeccable all the way through. Impressive hotel with nice rooms. The staff really did go out of their way to make sure everything was okay for me.

Breakfast served was fantastic, great selection, healthy options, though I'd have preferred a bit more meat in the hot section, the scrambled eggs were great. I was overwhelmed with options. Could be tricky when eating solo as they're efficient at clearing your table once you stand up and setting it up again, so found that someone else took my spot quickly after getting up for a second serving.

Wish I could have taken advantage of the spa, but the room service was spot on, they even remember my peculiar preferences when ordering food.

Only downsides were rather limited optionality on room TV, select few channels with no streaming services to be able to connect to or phone streaming options. Also I'd wake up in the night boiling hot having to fiddle with the room temp as it was set to high by default, and was hard to get this right over the few nights.

Location is not bad, of course if wanting to go into main Istanbul town you'll need taxi, best to book an Uber or something as I heard that the local taxis floating around that area coming from a 5* hotel will charge you like €50 for a 20-30 minute taxi journey.
