voco - Bonnington Dubai, an IHG Hotel

Hotel was very good but in my room I found bed bugs when I lifted the pillow as seen in the pictures. They immediately changed the room but I learnt that when there is a bed bug in a room, whole building is under the risk. For three-four days, the hotel should be closed and disinfection should be done but they only set this room out of service for now. At least all the rooms should have been closed in 8th floor. Next day, I changed the hotel unfortunately. I checked the reviews and saw that the same happened in 2011 also. The hotel should confirm that the precautions are taken for the future events. Hope I didn’t carry them to my home with my luggages.

As a first time traveler, I was excited to visit Dubai with my family and friends to get the experience. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the lady at the receptionist. At first she was nice but then it was somewhat turned left when she through a little insult towards me. I just brushed it off and moved on. The next morning, my mother and I were in restaurant for breakfast, and the same lady came to us. She greeted with smile however, it turned left again. I was shocked when she told me that I’m not attractive based on my skin tone, why am I still single, still hang with my mother, the outfit I’m wearing, and you are doing this..in front of my mother! Mom was upset and wanted to report her because that is no way you treat your customer like that. I have thick skin but she needs to humbled herself.
Overall, I had an amazing time in Dubai, but the lady needs to be more respectful and not given this persona that she is a nice person. You can be beautiful but your personality makes you ugly.

I stayed in a “superior” room. The bad smell of room was intolerable. The staff said they don’t have any available room to change. The hotel is in area which you cannot find taxi easily. It was so bad.
