Aspria Hamburg Uhlenhorst – Sport & Spa in Hamburg

The location is great; the facilities are fine, but the staff are rude and quite incompetent. You ask them questions (about their facilities, opening times, kids area) and they look annoyed at being inconvenienced with questions they don’t know the answer to. This hotel doesn’t cater to families or normal human interaction. My sister asked for details about the kids’ play area and couldn’t find it despite asking for directions 3 times, after which one member of staff reluctantly went to unlock the hidden side gate entrance for her and my nephew. The next day, my sister went down with him to the indoor play area during the opening times and the member of staff said she ‘wanted to go home early’, so we had to find my two year-old nephew somewhere else to play. For the price you pay, the service is so poor. There are better luxury hotels in Hamburg with spas and gyms.

® The wellness area is spacious and my massage was really very good. The rooms are very shabby. There is no opportunity to get a drink after 8 p.m. There is also no nice bar or restaurant. The bistro, which belongs to the sports club, can be used until 8 p.m. The bistro is uncomfortable and more than basic. The breakfast is comparable to a low-budget hotel. There are no decent bread rolls here, just cheap frozen goods. Scrambled eggs are inedible. The staff are friendly but not professional.

I did not actually stay at the hotel but tried to use a gift certificate for spa services from my husband. The services at the spa were fine and the facility is lovely but the customer service was horrible. I won't get into the fact that the restaurant had run out of food at 4pm on a Sunday so we couldn't even grab a bite to eat. In short, they refused to honor my husband's gift to me as he didn't have the correct "gutschein number' just proof of payment and a confirmation email as an actual gutschein was never e-mailed or mailed to him. The front desk was completely unhelpful and offered no solutions even implying we were at fault. CAN NOT RECOMMEND this place - there are far lovelier and nicer establishments in Hamburg to spend your time and money. This is really a local health club for people who live in the area and want a place to play tennis, use the gym or sauna. Out-of-towners or non-Uhlenhorst residents don't waste your time here. I certainly won't be going back or recommending to friends.
