I really enjoyed my stay at Movenpick Hamburg. The hotel is inside an old building that was water tower and has been rebuilt with great care and it feels special the moment you sleep.
The breakfast was very good. Everything was fresh and there were many choices, so it was easy to start the day happy.
I also liked the soft sound of water in the lobby. Our room had a beautiful view of the port from its very small windows.
Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would happily return.

Stayed 1–4 October. Unfortunately housekeeping standards were poor. The pillows in my room were flat, worn, and dirty and the spare pillow in the wardrobe was visibly dirty with yellow stains. I contacted reception but no action was taken to replace and had to contact them again that night before they were eventually replaced. Even then, the dirty pillows were simply put back into the wardrobe, with no apology or acknowledgment. Disappointing experience for a Mövenpick/Accor hotel and not what you’d expect at this level. I stayed for six days on a business trip to Hamburg and pre-paid for my whole reservation. On the first day the air conditioning was not working and the room was very hot. I was told the whole building was affected and it would be fixed. It was not fixed for the entire length of our stay.
The window in my room had a broken handle and they could not repair the window so they moved me to another room. When I checked out, they presented a $3000 EUR bill for my reservation. I informed them that I had pre-paid and asked them to check their records.
I then learned that the hotel charged me the additional $3000. I called numerous times and sent several emails including the pre-paid receipt. I never received a call back from the hotel and they did not cancel the duplicate charge.
My experience was totally unacceptable and I would never ever take the risk of staying at this hotel again.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel — the location is good, the breakfasts are tasty, the wellness centre is well-maintained (the sauna zone is great) and the staff are friendly (a big thank you to Ole)!
Particularly attractive is that they truly made use of the water tower — I really enjoyed the designs and decorations there.
But some things could be improved:
1. The sound insulation in the rooms is not good. While watching TV at a moderate volume in my room at night, I heard my neighbor knocking on the wall. So I quickly turned it off - and the knock stopped. Felt sorry for the neighbor.
2. You may have to wait for a long time until the hot water comes out if you are staying on a higher floor.
BUT: All in all, it’s absolutely recommended to stay with Mövenpick. Will come and stay here again!

The hotel has great potential but was ultimately disappointing. The location and breakfast are great. The restaurant offers a limited selection of food that does not match the quality of the food that is easily available in the local district. The bar is fine, but on two successive visits (one month apart) was out of stock of selected items. The biggest disappointment is the fitness center. There are few machines. One was completely out of order and the others were not well maintained. Furthermore, the fitness room is far too hot, and the water fountain was not working. I stayed 9 nights at the hotel and during this time the water fountain was not repaired. The hotel offered bottled water as an alternative, but on half of my 8 visits to the room there were only empty bottles.
