My family’s experience was good overall.
The facilities were nice , busy , for sure .
The buffet was a 5 star that offered a variety of excellent international foods for all palates The hotel is one of 7 with access to select from most of the high quality restaurants.
Highly recommend the Garden Grill.
There is one staff member in Guest Services that stood out for his generous , gracious and sincerest hospitality . Yes , MANUEL , you are amazing and delightful and deserving of much praise for your professional service.
Our vacation experience was that much more enjoyable because of Manuel’s care with and to details , in greeting us and checking in with us. Thank you Manuel for recommending and reserving all our restaurant , they were all first class. You are absolutely incredible and a true gentleman ,😊
The review is not complete without notable mention of CARLOS, a staff member that made our daily breakfast and lunches pleasantly welcoming ,and enjoyable, thank you CARLOS .You are a gentleman with enthusiasm and a great personality . ☺️
The employees do not like guests from the US. We were totally ignored at both pool bars. Tipping did not help. They would help the Spanish speaking first and act as though we were invisible. I spoke a few of the other guests from US and Canada and they said the same. They do not smile EVER! The entertainment spoke in their own language at all times and we couldn't understand. One of the men who were with the entertainment came into the pool and grabbed my niece by the arm to join in. They should not be putting hands on people and pulling them. If people want to join in on their own they will! She also went into the gift shop to make a purchase and was confronted by an employee begging her to buy him a Gatorade. This is not okay.
The rooms were beautiful but not very clean. The restaurants were very nice with great service. The staff at the restaurants and buffet were great.
The mosquitoes are awful! They even bit at night while sleeping.
The overwhelming sewage smell was strong also. Waking us up in the middle of the night gagging from the odor.
With all being said, I do not recommend the Esmeralda. Especially if you are from the US.
