Hotel Avenida Gran Via

This is the worst hotel in the world. The rooms are way too small, and the mattresses feel like you’re lying on a rock. There’s a terrible, cheap air freshener smell everywhere that makes you want to throw up.

The management was absolutely awful at handling an issue I had with my stay and didn’t even bother to offer a solution. I have traveled all over the world, and I’ve never had such a horrible experience in my life. To anyone reading this, I beg you—NEVER book here if you want to avoid the worst experience of your life.

First, I want to clarify that, contrary to some other reviews, the staff here was very friendly to me. This review is not a reflection on them.

I’ve traveled to over 15 countries, visited almost 50 US states, and stayed in well over a hundred different hotels over the past 20+ years.

This hotel is genuinely the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced. You can hear everything. It’s so bad that it seems they purposely removed soundproofing. I could hear my neighbor snoring all night, another neighbor talking on the phone until 2 a.m., and the person above me using the bathroom, with the floor creaking so loud as if it were in my room. The noise from outside was just as bad; it felt like there was no wall at all. Good luck trying to sleep in what must be the loudest hotel room on earth.

If noise doesn’t bother you, perhaps the bed will. It feels like a marble slab. Sleeping in the middle seat that doesn’t recline on an airplane is a five-star experience compared to this bed. I have learned that there are new places your back can hurt after sleeping in this monstrosity.

Whatever price they are charging is not worth it. Go spend a few extra euros and stay in a better hotel. The experience here is so bad they should pay people to stay here instead. It's without a doubt the most uncomfortable hotel experience I’ve ever had in my life.

One of the most disgusting customer service I’ve ever experienced. My stomach hurts and I’m waiting for my friend to come down from her room to go out together and they wouldn’t let me sit on a chair. Honestly you can find something better anywhere else from this place. Even the way the women talked to me was with disgust like I offended her asking to sit for a minute. I was thinking of going here but thank god I didn’t. Even my friend is not shocked she says the place has never heard of a smile

Worst decision I have made in a long time. The hotel is old, doesn’t have any facilities (not even a basic restaurant, Bfast or tea), furniture is old and broken, smells like cheap deodorant and the service it’s pretty bad. We booked for 2 nights and they decided to cancel the second night because “we didn’t confirmed the reservation..”, apparently the fact that I paid for the first night doesn’t count as confirmation so they gave away our second night and kicked us out.

Very worn out room, with burnt furniture, broken bed and mattress full of holes. The window did not close properly so the noise from outside was unbearable all day and night. The only new thing was the sink in the bathroom. Everything else was appalling, including the level of cleaning in the rooms, corridors and stairs. The elevator is quite noisy as well. Staff was very nice but couldn't change my room. Staff at the cafeteria very sweet as well.

The receptionist guy name “Michel” is very disrespectful and notsupported us with a very bad behavior and did not speak in a decint way, he was asking us to pay double price for the second day other than the one we agreed on before, while the price is less too much on their website.
They want us to pay 150€ while we agreed on 75€ before.

He did not cooperate and we had to leave the hotel after the first night and look for a new hotel with all bags.
