Unfair Charges and Rigid Policy — Poor Guest Treatment

I accidentally canceled my reservation three weeks before the arrival date and rebooked the same room at the same rate just minutes later. I also immediately contacted the hotel by email to explain the mistake and asked them to correct it. Despite all this, they refused to refund or credit the initial booking, hiding behind a strict “non-refundable” policy.

This wasn’t a last-minute cancellation or a no-show — it was an obvious error, addressed right away, and I still ended up staying at the property. The refusal to show even the slightest understanding or flexibility was extremely disappointing. It felt like they saw an opportunity to charge double and took it, regardless of fairness or customer service.

Policies exist for a reason, but blindly enforcing them without any regard for context or decency reflects poorly on the hotel. I will not be returning and strongly recommend others think twice before booking here.

Let me save you some money and time. Do not book here. Our room smelt like mold and mildew, there was absolutely no sound proofing walls were paper thin. The location was in the city center but not necessarily in an area you would want to be in. The breakfast was awful, honestly inedible. The room was small, and the bed was not comfortable.

While the location might be great, the property is in disrepair- from the walls, to the furniture, to the floors, the hotel is beat up, stained, and uncared for. Neither wifi nor data worked well in our room. It was an unpleasant place to be. Most of the staff members were polite and helpful. The beds were fine and sheets were clean, but that is all that can be said.

The hotel is very well located. Just steps from Puerta del Sol, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor and good restaurants but the conditions of the hotel are very poor. The hotel is very tired...you can notice that there have been years without a proper maintenance . Rooms, bathrooms, floors, elevator, AC, balconies windows and corridors need an urgent maintenance. The hotel is over-priced vs. the standards of the property. We spend six nights recently and paid US$200 or more p/night for a double room during Oct, 2024.The elevator was out of service two days during our stay. One day in the morning and the second day day all-day-long.
The staff is great, friendly, always willing to help. The reception staff were ver nice and please you on any request. Special mention and thanks to Luz, the room-attendant in the 3rd floor. She is very professional and friendly.
We were told by some staff that there are plans to restore the hotel since Covid -19 started but as of today the staff don't know when it will happen.
It's a pity that the management is running the hotel in such conditions now a day, when you need to be competitive due to the standards out there in the market.

The AIR CONDITIONING doesn’t work and is turned off for several months, and the rooms need renovation. 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻

We arrived for a 5-day stay at the hotel, using 3 rooms, but contrary to what is advertised on their own website, the hotel does not keep the air conditioning on all year round. So, guests are misled by this information. Our room was interior and extremely hot. The reception’s solution on the first day was: open the windows and they gave us a portable fan, but it was still very hot, and they moved us to another room the next day. We slept with the windows open to get some air, but the noise from the street was loud. It was very disappointing to go through this bad experience.

Apart from that, the room was old, unrenovated, with only 3 outlets, the shower drain was clogged, and the facilities were completely different from the photos in the ads. It is also worth noting that access to the hotel is difficult as the street leading to the hotel is under construction, so you’ll have to walk with your luggage to get there!

The positive points were the location and the breakfast.

Not a Great experience, room very small and bed dated and worn out, it was basically an oversize single, with a dip in the middle. Not comfortable at all. Bathroom very small and shower was dirty. Ac not working and fan motor was noisy, sounded like crickets in our room all the time. Requested a room change and was told nothing available. Breakfast was very basic, nothing special.
Pretty sure there is better hotels in the area for a more comfortable stay.
Oh, and poor access for cabs/Uber to access. Have to walk to a main road for best options.
