The recently renovated Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid Hotel is set within a historical building dating back to 1919. The hotel is in a central location, close to shops, tapas bars, and the city’s top restaurants. Within minutes, guests will find the architectural gems of Plaza de Alonso Martínez, as well as Fuencarral Street and the Salamanca neighborhood. A few steps further are the Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen museums, as well as the famous Paseo del Prado. For connections to the rest of the city, hop on the metro at the Alonso Martínez Station. The location is phenomenal, and as someone visiting Madrid for the first time, it’s central to everything that I want to see.
I arrived really early and the receptionist Bea could not have been nicer in welcoming me. She tried to see if my room was ready, which was kind of her, but I suspected it probably wouldn’t be at that early hour. She happily took my suitcase so I could explore Madrid for a few hours.
I came back around 2:30 PM, which was still a little early for check-in. Miguel was at the desk now and while I told him I had no issue waiting until normal check in time, he told me he wanted to see if he could work something out for me.
Not only did he find me a better room with a really nice view that I actually prefer more than the view of the original room, he brought over some special holiday treats as a welcome to me since I’m staying for a week.
The room is wonderful. I’m quite picky about cleanliness and the room looks and smells clean. There are nice smelling soaps and lotions to use from their own line of products.
My superior room is spacious with a giant bed and sitting area for reading, as well as a writing desk with a full tea and coffee service. There are a few snacks and some cold drinks in the refrigerator. There’s even a yoga mat for a workout!
The downstairs lobby is bright and welcoming and colorful and well decorated for the holiday season.
I’m very impressed and I would definitely stay here again when coming to Madrid.
I look forward to my week vacation and really want to thank everyone at Hotel Avani Alonso Martinez Madrid, especially Bea and Miguel, for getting me off to a great start!
They claimed all the ‘Standard’ rooms has no exterior window where you can see daylight which is just crazy!
I had to pay an additional fee and had an argument with to receptionist to be transferred to a proper healthy room.
No slippers till you ask for them, not enough vanity kits for 2 and the list goes on…
