Albatros Spa & Resort Hotel in Hersonissos

Some people may consider this review harsh and to be fair I could see why it's open to challenge, of i had the optioni would probably go 3.5 rating rather than 3. If you have booked this hotel already please don't worry its a decent hotel and won't ruin your holiday, it just won't make it either. Location Location is great 5 minute walk from the beach and the ***** with several supermarkets only 2 minutes away. Rooms Ours was modern, clean and adequately sized with a refrigerator and safe so no real complaints, the shower was nice and the beds comfortable, the only odd thing was having the sink next to the next to the bed instead of in the bathroom but this didn't bother us. Staff Don't get me wrong the staff were efficient and polite however there were certain things missing. Let me explain, in hotels I've scored higher previously, you get a good night and good morning from reception when walking past, here there was none of that, we stayed here for 10 nights and had the same drinks almost all the time, at other hotels the staff remember you and your order here this just didn't happen. It's just little things like this that make the difference for me. However there were two women who did feel like they made the extra effort to say hello Efi and Bianca. Food Ok, again nothing special but nothing to complain about either, managed to get something to eat at every meal but nothing stood out as being amazing, there could be long queues for the fresh cooked station in the evening and also at the cold drink station at breakfast. Facilities/entertainment This area was a let down. Don't be tricked by the hotel having Spa in its name, there is a spa connected to the hotel but none of the facilities are available unless you pay a lot extra, you expect to pay extra for treatments and massages, but in previous stays at other hotels I have been to you get to use facilities like the jacuzzi and sauna as part of you booking, not here. To give you and idea of the charges a massage and jacuzzi session for 2 had a special discount price of 189€! The pool area was very quiet, there wasn't much in terms of atmosphere, people kept themselves to themselves, there was some background music from the pool bar and an aqua aerobics class a couple of times a week that seems popular, but on the whole day times were slow and quiet. Evening entertainment wasn't great but to be fair where not the kind of family who stays in to watch night time entertainment. The overall condition of the hotel was good with comfy sunbeds and it was all kept clean, the hotel reception area is dated, I think they may be going for the rustic style but personally I think it just felt dated. I like a workout with weights when I'm on holiday, the gym is terrible free weights only go up to 5kg, there is a multi gym machine but to be honest its really poor, if you lift weights and like a workout on your holiday this gym is not adequate.
