Reviews
Rooms were smart and comfortable, and small touches and welcome gifts made us feel very happy!
The pool and spa areas were perfection (especially after a day out in the chaos of Rome). The massages were great, thank you to the spa manager and Erica, who were so welcoming!
The breakfast was delicious and had lots of local ingredients and produce. We even got a breakfast to go packed for us for an early morning tour we had to go on.
If you are ever in Rome, this is the hotel you need to stay at!!
Not sure about this establishment. For the chunk of change you have to pay, the food is rubbish and you have to pay extra for the spa.
Rooms - pretty good. Found an empty bottle of vodka in one of the cupboards. Beds and pillows quite comfortable, however nothing to write home about. Bathrooms lovely and clean.
Food - Shocking. For a 5 star establishment in Italy it was really quite bad. Being in Italy you would think there’s a proper Italian chef, but no. Everyday the food changed, I ordered poached eggs every morning and it was different every morning. Same with the pizzas and so on. Even the cocktail prices changed, one day it’s 20€ next day it’s €30. Charged €9 for orange juice in a mimosa… unless those oranges were blessed by the pope himself no sip of orange is worth €9. Caprese salad, it would come in all different shapes and sizes. Always different but consistently average, not fresh and with no olive oil.
Service - Was fine. Lovely staff, obviously there’s a language barrier sometimes but all in all no problems.
Spa - €50 for 30 mins use or something… we had 5 rooms and still it did not come with any benefits such as being able to relax in the spa. Really? Really really?? 6 rooms and still can’t use the spa without paying €50!
Pool / Outdoor Area - Great! Best part, lovely pool, amazing service by the pool from Marco.
To sum up, book a hotel nearby and pay to use the pool because the pool is worth 50-100€ a day to relax. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t go back to the Gran Melia Rome. Certainly wouldn’t eat there again!
Sorry, but not sorry.
The food is one of the best meals we had in Rome and the buffet breakfast is outstanding.
You need to book this accommodation ASAP!
Sadly room very small and noisy as by road.Shower over a bath also not really good for 5 star.
Great location bt The Vatican
however ,We asked the hotel concierge to book a venue for us prior to our arrival for my birthday but the booking was not for a birthday although the email received said it was, we were given a very far table from the live music which was not very convenient for such an important event.
the hotel has 2 restaurants but i only tried, its a tapas concept which is not everyone’s favourite and it certainly need more varieties and tasty Italian food, we had to go out to eat every time ( the closest place to eat is about 10/15 minutes walk).
Other than that it was lovely stay and we enjoyed it.
This certainly wouldn’t deter me from given this beautiful hotel a well deserved 5* and thank them for the lovely stay.
I just wish that my little remarks would be taken into account for the future.
