LONGAVITA PLEASE READ
I rarely leave reviews, but after what I experienced at the Hilton Hotel in Istanbul, I felt compelled to warn others. For a brand that markets itself as high-end and luxurious, this was nothing short of a disaster from start to finish. This hotel is an embarrassment to the Hilton name.
Let’s start with the food – an absolute disgrace. We dined at their on-site restaurant expecting something decent, at the very least. What we were served instead looked and tasted like it had been microwaved straight from a frozen meal aisle at Iceland. Bland, rubbery, and completely inedible. It genuinely tasted off. It’s unacceptable for a supposedly premium hotel to serve food of this poor quality. Dinner was barely touched and definitely not worth the extortionate price. While the breakfast was surprisingly okay – the full platter selection was decent – it’s far from enough to redeem the overall dining experience.
Now, the room. To describe it as shocking would be putting it kindly. We were greeted with a view overlooking a busy motorway – no city skyline, no charm, just noise and concrete. It felt more like a prison cell than a hotel room. The whole place gave off a depressing, outdated vibe – as if nothing had been updated since the 1950s. The room smelled musty, and everything from the furnishings to the carpet screamed neglect. Not what you’d expect when booking at a Hilton.
The gym was passable – functional but far from impressive. Old equipment, minimal cleanliness, and open to anyone, despite being overpriced. Again, completely lacking in value.
Customer service? Don’t expect a warm welcome. I found most of the staff quite rude and disinterested. The only exception was the team working dinner service – they were polite and attentive, but unfortunately had to serve that horrendous food. Otherwise, there was a clear lack of care or hospitality.
To add insult to injury, the wine we ordered was decent but ridiculously overpriced, like everything else in the hotel. For what you’re paying, you expect a premium experience. Instead, we got overpriced mediocrity in a tired and run-down shell of a hotel.
After just 16 hours, we checked out. That’s how bad it was. We couldn’t take another minute. We moved to Arjaan, a beautiful hotel just 20 minutes away – a night-and-day difference. Modern, clean, full of energy, with great food, excellent staff, and far better value. Supermarkets, restaurants, outdoor pools, and plenty to do in the area. Hilton could learn a thing or two – or everything – from Arjaan. LONGAVITA PLEASE DONT CUT COSTS IT LOOKS BAD FOR YOUR NAME AND BRAND
In summary, avoid Hilton Istanbul like the plague. It’s overpriced, outdated, poorly managed, and utterly depressing. Spend your money elsewhere – anywhere else. Hilton needs a complete overhaul if they want to earn their reputation back. One star – and even that feels generous.
The main issue was with cleanliness. The housekeeping staff didn’t follow good hygiene practices. For example, the cleaner started with the bathroom, then without changing gloves, handled the towels and bed linens. It made me feel uncomfortable, and I think better attention to hygiene and proper cleaning orders would really help.
On the positive side, breakfast was excellent. There was a big variety—cheese, olives, jams, fruits, even baklava. One day they served börek and it was one of the best I’ve had in Istanbul. They also had eggs, Turkish tea, coffee, and more.
And they give us a welcome package which contains nuts and fruits.
Overall, great breakfast but other parts of the hotel didn’t feel like true five-star quality (like service, lobby, and room size)
But restful sleep is non-negotiable.
I was kept awake by extremely loud music coming from the hotel’s own nightclub. I first called reception, then sent an email — no response. The music continued until 1:45 AM, making it impossible to get any proper rest.
At checkout, I mentioned the issue again, but there was no sincere apology or any sign of accountability.
A hotel that cannot guarantee a quiet night simply doesn’t deserve a higher rating — no matter how good the rest may be.
If you listen closely to the video I’ve posted (recorded at 1:39 AM), you can hear exactly how loud the music was — even all the way up in my room.
Unfortunately, the overall experience left a disappointing aftertaste. As first-time guests at this spa, we expected at least some guidance — an explanation of where things are, how to use the facilities, and what the general rules are. None of that was provided.
After the massage, we were simply asked to leave the room. At that point, we had no robes or towels, and it wasn’t clear where to get them. The staff seemed clueless — when we asked questions, the answers were vague or we were redirected back to the reception, where the situation didn’t improve. Directions were given as if the layout was obvious, but in reality, the spa is a confusing maze that’s hard to navigate without proper guidance or a clear map.
In short: massage — 5 stars, service — 2 stars. We’ve visited other Hilton hotel spas and had great experiences, but sadly, we won’t be returning to this one. Hopefully, management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements
Air conditioning was not working most of the time. It was 26 degrees in our room, we could not sleep.
On reception promised to fix it and didn’t do it for days. We asked if they can’t fix it, tell us so we change hotel. They only promised it will be fixed in 1-2h. And it didn’t happen.
Only 1 night AC was fixed and worked properly.
I could not open the window for long because there is constantly noise from the road.
Stuff on reception was not very friendly and not helpful.
Food was okay okay.
Have booked room in this hotel for business trip, expecting great service for the amount of money that was paid and brand name.
Well, unfortunately, you only pay for a brand name.
Yes,breakfast was good, but nothing more to this hotel.
On the first night,I saw a cockroach in the room.
This was communicated to the reception and I was then asked if I wanted to change the rooms. And my answer was definitely and I got upgraded to executive room. Which is indeed a nice gesture.
From that on I have tried to keep positive mindset and enjoy the stay.
But on the 2nd night in the new room, suddenly music started playing very loudly around 23h00. Heard my neighbours going out, checking where it was coming from, but probably couldn't find the source.
I have waited and called reception around 12h at midnight. Where I was advised that manger was sent to check on situation. 30 min later music was still going. Called reception again to check what is the issue and was asked if my room is located above a hall... well, how am I supposed to know it?
And was advised that party manager said that it will end in 10 min. And the tone seemed that it was my mistake that I couldn't sleep. Did it stop after 10 min? Absolutely not,and it didn't seem that it was to end very soon.
If you are expecting a party and there will be noise, shouldn't you notify your guests?
If this is the treatment that executive rooms are getting, what about general rooms then?
Floor in the rooms and bathrooms is full of dust - in King’s suite as well. When I called for room service to clean it since after walking 5 min bare feet on wooden floor my feet became black, I got information that they are sending room service right now - after 5h I came back and nothing changed… till end of stay nobody came to clean it. I reported that next day, we were ensured that management of housekeeping will take care of it and back to us- well nothing like that happened.
In the bedroom of our suite WiFi signal wasn’t coming so I called reception and got info that in 20 min someone will come to check that - well - also that have never happened.
And the last but not least bathtub in the suit had fungicides and a lot of rust - as a doctor I don’t recommend :) - and once again stuff didn’t care about that at all.
Breakfasts there were just acceptable.
The rooms are extremely small, and despite being a family of four (with one baby and a 9-year-old), we were given a room so tiny that we could barely fit our luggage—even though I was supposedly upgraded.
Asking the staff for something as simple as extra sheets was incredibly frustrating and made me feel very uncomfortable. For example, after requesting that our room be made up, we asked for extra sheets and were only given one, with no effort made to bring one for my son. We felt so unwelcome that we didn’t even bother asking for his bed sheets again.
The only advantage was the parking availability if you're driving, and the mall across the road, which has some good shops and a food hall on the top floor. However, be very careful when parking your car, as the entrance is very narrow. I recommend using valet parking if you’re not a confident driver.
There is much more I could say, but I do not recommend this hotel for families!
