Le Meridien Abu Dhabi

We had booked for a weekend stay.

1. Hotel ambience & Infrastructure: An iconic landmark of the town. An old style Building. Interiors are okay , not that great. Nice pool & beach access which makes up for the letdown of the ambience.

2. Room Quality: Old style , Needs renovation.

3. Room Service: Good response from all staff

Overall : Max Spend can be around :AED 300 -350 / Night / Room. If anything beyond , you got way better new hotels around the city. :)

This hotel is so old and rusty and needs maintenance badly. The window in the room was not even closing, the door was making a nasty sound when opening and closing, furniture looks very old, and so does the room. You see beautiful beach in the pictures, but in truth, there is no beach access at all. Allegedly the municipality didn’t allow guests on the beach.
The pool is old and overcrowded with sun beds on the grass. Definitely not my definition of “beach resort”.
Paid 750 aed for a superior room that was more of a 2 star hotel room. Really not recommending this hotel. Not worth the money.
Staff on the other hand was nice and helpful.

I recently stayed at Le Meridien Abu Dhabi, one of the city's oldest hotels, and I have mixed feelings about my experience.

Firstly, the hotel's exterior exudes charm with its classic architecture, reflecting its long-standing presence in the city. However, upon stepping inside, I was pleasantly surprised by the modern and stylish interior design. The ambiance around the pool and outdoor patios was inviting, adding to the overall appeal of the hotel.

We were fortunate to be upgraded to a spacious and comfortable suite on the second floor, which initially seemed like a delightful start to our stay. However, our experience took a sharp turn when we encountered an unexpected plumbing issue. After enjoying a relaxing bath, we were met with unpleasant noises and foul odors emanating from the drainage system, quickly filling both the bathroom and our room with an unbearable stench.

Despite our discomfort, the staff promptly accommodated our request to be moved to a different room. However, the subsequent rooms we were shown also had similar issues, leaving us feeling embarrassed and frustrated. Eventually, we settled for a room with an awkward layout, though it still failed to meet our expectations.

During our brief stay, we visited the executive lounge, where we encountered no issues. However, a trip to the ground floor restroom revealed concerning signs of poor maintenance, including wet floors, strange sounds from the plumbing fixtures, and unpleasant odors. These issues were also noted by my travel partner in the ladies' restroom.

Overall, the hotel staff handled the situation professionally, but it was evident that the property's underground infrastructure, particularly the sewer system, was in dire need of maintenance and repairs. Despite the hotel's aesthetic remodel, major issues like the ones we experienced cannot be overlooked.

As loyal Bonvoy Platinum members, we had hoped for a more seamless and enjoyable stay. However, due to the persistent issues and discomfort, we made the decision to cut our stay short and seek accommodation elsewhere. Perhaps reallocating funds from interior renovations to essential infrastructure repairs would better serve the hotel and its guests in the long run.
