Reviews
The Constantinos the Great is great in size. Immense and impersonal. The food was on a par with the Leonardo.....does that mean that our hotel was as good as a 5* or that this 5* didn't do so good? That's a difficult question. The ground floor was immense and the area set aside for the ceremony was quite a walk away from where we enjoyed drinks at a reception bar. Main problem for me is that I am disabled and get down stairs to the only toilet up at the ceremony end of the hotel. So, each time that I needed the bathroom I had to walk all the way back to reception again! Despite the size of the hotel and how many people were there, I found it incredible that there was only one toilet for women and one for the men. Not only that but it smelled vile and certainly not clean.
The wedding was planned perfectly but I think that was to the credit of the planner and not the hotels.
I wouldn't be interested in staying at this hotel.
The hotel has a stylish lobby with great views, but I’d rate it 6/10. For a 5-star, it fell short of expectations, especially considering I’ve stayed in 200+ 4-5 star hotels over the years.
Location
Perfect location in Protaras, right on the beach and close to shops and restaurants. Public transport is a short walk away, and parking is free. Airport transfer was easy, and the area feels safe, though it can get noisy at night.
Check-in/Check-out
Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient. Staff were professional and friendly, with our room ready early.
Room
Initially assigned a twin room, but we were moved after requesting a double. The room was dated, with poor cleanliness and worn linens. The fridge needed replacing (twice), and the safe had a daily fee. Amenities like the TV were minimal and in poor condition.
Bathroom
Poorly maintained with soap stains, sand in corners, and a barely working hairdryer. Towels weren’t replaced until requested.
Dining Options
Breakfast was decent, mostly English-style, but the dinner was disappointing. Meat was dry, and while the salads were good, the overall quality did not meet expectations.
Service
Friendly reception and spa staff, with a nice birthday gesture. However, housekeeping and maintenance were unresponsive, with slow resolution of issues.
Facilities
Didn’t use the pool or spa, but they looked poorly maintained. Gym equipment was outdated, and Wi-Fi was unreliable.
Value for Money
For a 5-star, the value was disappointing. It felt more like a 3-star hotel, especially considering the prime location can be found at more affordable places nearby.
Final Thoughts
The hotel did not meet its 5-star promise. With improvements to housekeeping, maintenance, and facilities, it could be much better. Wouldn’t recommend it in its current state.
We were incredibly disappointed by our stay at the Constantinos the great Hotel.a self-proclaimed 5-star resort offering an all-inclusive package. It was by far the worst hotel experience we've ever had.
Upon arrival, we found dirty sheets and a dusty floor in our room. They did change everything, but the room still had an unpleasant odor.
Another major issue was the lack of professionalism from some staff. One bartender near the pool became irate when we ordered drinks 20 minutes before closing, yelling and throwing objects.
The Wi-Fi was unusable for two days, and it took an excessive amount of time for them to fix it. Additionally, the plates and glasses often had a foul smell and taste.
Our repeated complaints to management seemed to fall on deaf ears. There was no sense of urgency or genuine concern for our experience.
We strongly advise against staying here. There are far better options available. Save your money!
However, the main buffet restaurant is awful and very repetitive. Even my son, who is usually a good eater, got bored after three days. After some complaints, they started serving nuggets or fish fingers, which aren't very nutritious. Additionally, our cleaner was very rude and never made the bed properly or changed our towels. Despite multiple complaints, the issue persisted.
On the day we were leaving, I paid for a late checkout at 6 pm a few days in advance and specifically asked for the room to be cleaned on our last day. I called from our room on the last day to remind them, but they still didn't clean our room. When my pregnant wife returned to the room, it was still not cleaned.
We went down to ask for a refund or partial refund, but they accused us of blackmail and denied ever agreeing to clean the room. This place is far from a 5-star luxury hotel. While the location is excellent, the service and management are disappointing and can cause inconvenience on your holiday!
This hotel is a minus 5 star. Believe the negative reviews you read online. The managers at reception have an attitude problem. To say this hotel is rubbish, I wouldn’t have the audacity to speak to paying customers like that.
The bar man was a bit creepy asking to take picture with my one year old daughter. I had to say no to this. This would never happen in England. The entertainment guy was lovely, friendly and chatty. The waiting staff were lovely, attentive and helpful.
The food? Old, smelly and kept getting reused. If you have allergies probably not the place for you. Some of the foods don’t even have labels on so you don’t know what you’re eating. The chicken has hair on; the bread is stale and the rice smells like it’s been re heated for 100th time. It’s the same stuff on repeat. The plates, cups and cutlery smells like a wet dog has licked them. We had all inclusive but only ate dinner one night here.
The hotel itself is old, dirty and run down. There’s ants everywhere, furniture is grim, bathroom towels are dirty, not fresh or white. Had a cot for the baby that looked like it had been picked up from the street. Rooms weren’t cleaned properly just beds remade. The sun beds are disgusting, stained and dirty.
The only positive is location is good and the view is lovely. You’ll be looking at the view a lot because the swimming pools are freezing. You have to pay 7.50 euro to use the sun beds on the beach so just be mindful that there is not actual hotel sun beds on the beach. They have them on the grass facing the beach. Honestly such a shame, if you can cancel I recommend you do, you’ll have a better experience at a 2 star hotel.
By entering the room we felt very strong smell of washing liquid, like bleach. It took some time for airing.
We were not satisfied with drinks. Even with all inclusive package you will still need to pay for a drinks, for example frappe, non alcoholic bear, virgin mojito or soda water - these are not included. The drinks which are included are very low quality, syrups with lot of sugar. No lemonades or fresh juices offered.
Food was tasty, but this hotel is more about meat, not fish.
