Papouis Hotel

Myself and my 15yr old son stayed at this hotel for a week. We stayed in a twin room on the 5th floor. It had a sea view and was quiet. The room looked fresh and even though under the bed was not clean, the bathroom and usable space was clean. The shower was great, hand held and rain shower with good pressure and temperature. The food was decent for a three star place. Only thing that could make this better is if they provided a microwave to just warm your food as sometimes due to it being a buffet it was luke warm. Also no ice cream at meal times . I have never stayed in a hotel where this is the case. Ice Cream was only available between 3.30pm and 5pm. The two pools were busy but we always managed to get a sun bed whatever time we went to the pool. Downside to the pool is that during the main heat of the day there was no shade at all. Around 4pm there started to be a little shady area. I’m not a massive drinker but the drinks I had were nice. I liked the San Francisco. There is a lobby bar which is not open. This is a shame as would be nice to sit in the air conditioning of an evening and chill. We didn’t watch any of the entertainment but don’t think we missed out. Overall a nice hotel out of town but walkable to the beach. We walked to a crazy golf place which we both enjoyed. Also went on a boat trip and swam with turtles and did the Magic Dancing Waters Show in Protaras. Only thing you need cash for was the buses. We used the buses a few times. They were 2 euros each daytime and 3 euros after 9pm and very regular. I would go back to this hotel.

We have just returned from a week’s stay at the Papouis and we have had a very enjoyable week. The hotel is situated more nearer Pernera but only a short 10-15 minute walk from Protaras main ***** (which is very busy and noisy and glad we were staying further away from that area). The hotel has been recently refurbished and all areas were kept clean and tidy. The corridors smelt lovely and there was a water station on each floor as you left the lift to refill your bottles the hotel kindly gave you when you arrived. We had two rooms booked, both of which were clean and tidy with tea & coffee making facilities. Showers were warm and powerful. We had lovely views over the pool area and sea view. Food was fantastic and plenty of options at every sitting. Cocktails were great and I liked the fact at lunch and evening meal the staff would come to take your drinks order at the table. They even came around the pool area to take drinks orders too. Two good sized pools and there is a splash park due to be finished for next year. Never had to get up at a crazy time for sunbeds - 8am and I could still get 5 beds right next to the pool. You could always get a bed somewhere throughout the day. The entertainment isn’t the best (my kids enjoyed karaoke) but to be honest we like to wander around the area on a night and would often go into Pernera or Protaras eating out a couple of nights too. Protaras is a beautiful area of the island and we have visited before but not since 15 years ago. It is definitely busier and if I was to come again I would definitely return to this hotel where it was away from the busy ***** but not too far that you couldn’t walk to it. Regular bus routes also take to you to other parts of the island. We took the bus to Ayia Napa water park.

Sorry only just came round to doing a review I went in may the weather was fantastic very hot in its 30's.the hotel was very clean. Pools was lovely good size to have a good swim lots of sunbeds no matter what time of day only fault I could find the pool area could have done with a good hose down as very dusty but this might have been from farmers working the land next door and the loud music from the dar I was on the fourth floor but I might as well been on the first floor. Next time if I go back I we take ear plugs. But in enjoyed my stay. Ps you get little water bottles with your own name on them but I did not get one.

Solid 3,5 stars. Great communication with nearby beaches and the city centre – the bus stop is located almost right in front of the hotel. If you need medications, souvenirs, drinks, or markets – everything is close to Papouis. The food was also alright. I really enjoyed the pasta with pesto! It was fresh and clean. I personally didn’t like the meat or the desserts much – the texture of the meat wasn't to my liking, but that’s just a personal preference. I didn’t get a chance to try the ice cream or snacks. No issues with taking small portions of food from the dining hall back to your room. The reception desk was also helpful, we even received cute bottles with our names on them, which could be refilled at the filtered water dispenser in the corridor (just remember not to leave your plates or food leftovers there!). One of a few inconveniences was the elevators. There are just two for the whole hotel, so you might have to wait a bit. Corridors were clean and smelled nice. However, room cleaning could be improved. While the cleaning lady was very kind (she brought us extra beach towels when we asked), the cleaning itself was lacking – the shower gel was empty for several days, and the floor wasn’t cleaned properly. That said, we felt safe leaving our belongings in the room, and housekeeping didn’t come too early in the morning like in some other hotels. The rooms looked just like in the photos. We didn’t pay for a view, but we still had a nice city view with some mountains in the background – definitely better than just looking at bushes or walls. Before coming, I read a lot of reviews about people waking up early to reserve sunbeds by the pool. It’s true that the ones closest to the pool were taken early, but it wasn’t as bad as I expected – you could always find a spot for two, just a bit further away. Plus, there are two pools, so no need to worry too much. I was positively surprised by the dining service – every time we entered, staff would approach and ask if we wanted something to drink, and even reminded us if they were about to close so we could take a bit more food. Even at the pool, someone would come by and ask if we wanted drinks. One downside was communication. At the bar, we often asked for drinks without ice, but most of the time they still came with ice. A simple “Could you repeat that?” would help avoid that issue. Still, the drinks were tasty and well-prepared. What annoyed me the most was the door-slamming at night. People were loudly banging their doors almost all night long, laughing and talking loudly at 1am – it felt like they didn’t care at all about quiet hours. If you’re a light sleeper, keep in mind that weekends can be noisy due to the hotel’s location near a nightlife area – even with the windows closed, the music was very loud and made it hard to sleep. A nice bonus was the wide selection of TV channels for different nationalities – for example, there were French channels available. There was also a fun event

Wow what a fantastic time we had at this beautifully kept very clean hotel food was plentiful and fresh always something for the pickiest of eaters all staff friendly helpful polite and pleasant at all times we will defo come back to stay at this gem of a hotel rooms spacious and air con was a god send whilst we stayed here all in all we had a lovely time thank you papouis till next year ohh only problem maybe a airer fitted on balcony to dry your pool towel and swimwear would be good

My partner (28F) and I (33M) recently stayed at Papouis Hotel Protaras for a relaxing getaway and had a really pleasant experience overall. The hotel itself is very clean and well-kept, which gave us a great first impression. The rooms and bathrooms were also very good . What really stood out was how friendly and helpful the staff were throughout our stay—they made us feel genuinely welcome. One thing we really appreciated was how relaxed the hotel was when it came to rules, especially around the all-inclusive bar. Drinks were flowing without a fuss or queues, and it created a really laid-back atmosphere, which was perfect for a couple’s trip. They even offer pool service which is a bonus added touch. That said, this hotel is definitely family-oriented. There are lots of activities for children during the day and the evening entertainment is very much geared towards kids. It’s great for families, but if you’re a couple looking for more adult-focused entertainment in the evenings, you might find this a bit much. We ended up walking into Protaras ***** most evenings which is only a 15 minute walk or a 5 min cab ride. Food-wise, breakfast was good with a decent variety. It has a omelette station and pancake station. However, lunch and dinner were a bit of a letdown—I’d rate them around 5/10. There was plenty of food, but the quality didn’t quite match up. It’s not terrible, but there’s definitely room for improvement in terms of flavour and variety. Their fresh cooking option is mainly pork oriented. Again we ate out most nights due to the dinner situation. Overall, we had a lovely stay. If you’re after a clean, friendly, and easy-going hotel that’s great for families (and don’t mind kid-friendly evenings), this is a solid choice. With better food quality, it could easily be a 5-star experience.

The hotel offers great value for money – it definitely exceeds expectations for a 3-star standard. The food is tasty with a wide selection of drinks, and the rooms are new and modern. The only areas for improvement would be the cleanliness of the rooms and the music at the pool, which was sometimes too loud. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
