Vangelis Hotel & Suites

We recently stayed at Vangelis Hotel & Suites for two weeks, and while there were some positives (like the location and pool area), several issues made our stay less enjoyable than expected for an all-inclusive resort. Personally, we normally stay in bigger resorts, so we would expect a more organized and consistent standard of service which may have been our downfall going with a smaller resort. However it was for a family members wedding. First, cleanliness in the room was inconsistent. One day our daughter smudged cream on the mirror, it remained there until we left 2 days later, which really made us question the attention to detail during room cleaning. Additionally, the cleaner didn’t always leave enough towels, which was frustrating, especially for a family of 4. Whilst the room was big enough, there was nowhere near enough storage for a family of four. For a hotel catering to families, we expected more wardrobe and drawer space, unfortunately we had to live out of our suitcases far more than we should have. The shower design was another issue. Every time we used it, the bathroom floor was left soaking wet. We didn’t bother complaining but i am sure if we had they would have attempted to resolve this like they did with other friends of ours. The food hall was small for the number of guests, and the food itself was repetitive day after day. A simple fresh pasta station or a bit more variety would have made a big difference, but instead, it felt uninspired despite the themed nights. Unfortunately the snack bar was also another disappointment. Despite being open, food was often unavaliable and therefore not kept on top of refreshing and we faced long waits multiple times when it had just opened for a simple caesar salad – not ideal when its suppose to be all inclusive. Entertainment was a letdown. There was no entertainment on Wednesdays at all, which is odd for an all-inclusive resort. And the overall entertainment program was repetitive and underwhelming – there really needs to be at least a two-week rotation to cater to longer-stay guests. To top it off, all-inclusive ends at 23:00, which feels stingy compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at. After that time, you have to start paying – which just adds to the sense that they’re cutting corners wherever they can. Lastly, the a la carte dining was only available once during our two-week stay, which is the same allocation given to guests staying just one week. That hardly feels fair or “inclusive” in an all-inclusive package. On a positive note this was delicious and we would definitely recommend. There were a couple of other positives: the bar staff/reception staff were attentive and friendly, and the lifeguards were excellent – they handled any issues we had with unruly guests around the pool quickly and professionally, which we appreciated.
