Reviews
Overall its alright, but this Hotel has a lot of small things here and there that made the experience less comfortable:
- Parking cost !25€ per night! Its a huge underground garage under the neighbor building, NOT the hotel building. Parking lots are quite far from the hotel´s entrance, you have to walk down the entire street at night, either through an empty garage or the street.
- To use the elevator, you have to use your keycard (its usually a security measure), but the staircase does not have this security lock so you can just use the stairs.... that was quite annoying to always pull out your keycard to be able to use the elevator. Why have it, if anyone can use the stairs anyway??
- Room was very small, not much space if you have more than one luggage. The "side table" is a little shelf, not made to work on.
- There were NO glasses for water, kettle, little water bottles or quick cheap coffee packs like in any other hotel, which is a minimal standard pretty much everywhere. Also no small fridge.
- In the morning I asked the reception for an iron to iron my shirt, they asked for our room number and said someone will bring it to us. We went up, waited a bit and had to go. Thanks for the iron that never came. Couldn't you just provide it at the reception?
- There was no toothpaste, make sure to bring your own.
- Breakfast, they had no tablets to put several bowls or plates on it, so you had to either fill one plate with all the food or go back and forth to get additional plates.
- Location is also not the greatest, not many restaurants or bars nearby.
- Sleeping with open window is too noisy because of the street bellow.
Like I said, a LOT of small inconvenient things that made our experience less comfortable than it could have been. We visit Hamburg at least once or twice a year and wont stay here again unfortunately.
Now coming to customer orientation or rather lack of thereof. First you stand 15 min in a check-in line because there is a one hotel representative for the whole floor.
Second, and most ridiculous issue is the 10-euro breakfast:
1. You need to choose a 45-min breakfast slot and stick to it
2. There is, of course, a line to let you get a seat
3. If you are staying alone, you need to wait more for the small table to get free (no, you cannot choose your own seat🤦🏼♀️)
4. Finally you are given a table and you can move on with the very average breakfast for the hotels in this price-quality range. The only things that stoods out is the leaf tea selection, something difficult to find these days.
5. I don't mind dogs in the hotel, but given the limited space, some dogs barking at each other and hygiene issues such as falling fur, I don't think it is considerate to allow them into the breakfast area
All-in-all, you finish your kindergarten breakfast feeling patronized and happy to check out of this camp.
After 10 days touring around Germany this was the newest hotel we stayed in - on the plus side chromecast worked to the large TV monitor. However, strip lighting along the top of the desk area was blinding as you tried to work and if you turned the lighting off then the electric sockets also went off!?!?
The bar/restaurant area looked quite cool but for breakfast the seating is wholly impractical with lounge style armchairs that left this 158cm guest feeling like a toddler at their parents’ dinner table!
Parking limited and no step free access for heavy luggage - strange when the hotel is relatively new. There is a wheelchair ramp.
