Reviews
The beauty of the sea is matched by the exceptional quality of the food and services offered at the hotel. The dining experience was a highlight of my stay, with a variety of fresh, delicious dishes that showcase the local cuisine. Each meal felt like a carefully curated culinary journey, with the chefs clearly putting thought and passion into every dish. Whether it was the breakfast buffet with its array of options or the evening seafood delicacies, everything was simply top-notch.
Equally impressive was the service. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist with a smile. They went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable, from offering great recommendations on local activities to ensuring every detail of my experience was perfect.
In conclusion, this hotel is an idyllic retreat by the sea, offering not just stunning views but also outstanding food and service. I left feeling completely rejuvenated and can't wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the beauty of the sea with a touch of luxury.
- Own platform at the beach from which it is possible to swim in the sea. The sunbeds are free everywhere on the hotel's territory, including the Tsimento platform. We have also tried a public beach which is just by the hotel and is easily accessible. This beach is of course not for free (10 eur for 2 sunbeds with umbrella for a day), however, the hotel is very good at explaining what is included and what is for additional charge. I was also in contact with a very helpful hotel representative before booking and was able to ask all questions in advance.
- The personnel is very helpful and friendly. We got help several times with booking taxi, were allowed to check out a bit later with no additional charge and got the room upgraded for free (from mountain view to sea view).
- Good variety of food and a lot of fresh fruits. Although it might be a good option to add more sea food in general and not only during the sea food evening (once a week). Otherwise, plenty of food during the day, with snacks in between breakfast, lunch and dinner, ice-cream bar and a fridge with fresh fruits available during the day.
- There is a good blend of different types of guests - some younger couples, some older ones, families with kids and ones without. Overall, it felt like this hotel is a great place for everyone and is not too focused only on kids (also works for people who want calmer vacation).
- The hotel is also at a proximity to Heraklion which makes it very easy to visit the city or go to Knossos.
- Elevators - the territory of the hotel is not small, however, there are 2 elevators available. Yes, they are small and sometimes you have to wait. But they are in place and the walking is not too extensive. The hotel is built so that you can hide from the heat on the most paths up and down. And it is really good to have some movement after eating maybe a bit too much of delicious food.
There are also some things which could be improved:
- Be prepared to "book" sunbeds early in the morning (place towels, books, etc). Otherwise, you might risk not getting any.
- Communication of the daily events and activities is not the best. There is a weekly schedule of events. One of them was, for example, an afternoon with live music and pizza at the bar. In fact, there was no pizza (they forgot to update the schedule from 2 weeks before) and live music was not that long as was promissed.
- Animation and most of the announcements during the day are done in French (!). This also includes mostly French music. Half of the guests seem to enjoy, we did not understand a thing. It seems like the hotel is overall more oriented at French tourists and all others are a bit forgotten.
- Smoking is everywhere, there are no non-smoking areas - even where the children are close by.
All-in-all, we had a wonderful vacation staying at Peninsula Resort & Spa and would like to stay there again some day.
The weather was wonderful and the food and the meals UNSURPASSABLE!
The resort is within walking distance of three beaches and offers numerous facilities and activities for families. There are three pools on-site, and personally, I loved the saltwater pool with its stunning ocean view from the cliff.
The rooms are spacious, and my balcony faced the ocean, offering a beautiful sunrise view every morning.
Considering the price I paid, this resort is excellent value for money. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and they even served refreshments and evening drinks with live music alongside breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I’ll definitely return for my next vacation in Crete!
We had a room with a hot tub that overlooked the Moniaftis Beach. It had a balcony with an incredible view over the beach/ocean and we were able to enjoy spectacular views of the sunset and sunrise. When we arrived we had some champagne and fruit on the balcony and it was definitely an experience we will never forget.
The food offering of the resort, despite being all-inclusive, was very good quality. During our 6 day-stay, there was rarely any overlap in what was offered. Unlike some of the Caribbean resorts we had visited previously, there was a good variety of choice that was equally delicious.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and Peninsula Resort. Our experience here was so much better than the Caribbean resorts we had been to that we might even just abandon the Caribbeans altogether and vacation here instead!
Very clean rooms and great daily servicing. We had a pool room, the water temp was a bit chill to swim mid October.
I think they are a French resort.
There was a bit of noise at times from a French woman on a mic doing some activities.
We couldn't believe how big this place was. It is a beautiful resort in an amazing location.
I would stay again.
