Quality Hotel Nova Domus

As another review said, staff is the only nice thing about this hotel.
The first room I went in was super warm and the air conditioner was not turning on. Front desk was nice enough to give me another one.
The rooms are tiny, old, the chair had stains all over it. Wasn't too terrible for a couple hours nap, but I won't be back, that's for sure.

The rooms itself are clean, large and tidy, but unfortunately that is where the positives end. For starters in summer, there is abrely any air conditioning to the point where a few of us contemplated sleeping outside on the balcony if we had them.

The hotel is old and run down, the lifts look ancient, the hallways resemble a 1980s school and the maze to find the breakfast was crazy.

This hotel is far below Choice Quality Hotel standards as a chain, I've been to two other ones and this one doesn't resemble a Choice hotel.

The location is excellent, the price is very low, rooms are impeccably clean, WiFi works and the cleaning ladies and receptionist that works in the evenings try to make up for the shortcomings of the hotel. The management, or lack there of, is running this hotel into the ground.

Firstly, after arriving early at the hotel at 1.30pm (the reservation scheduled check in was at 2pm) there was noone at the hotel. We went for a drink with all the luggage, came back after an hour and a service employee let us in the hallway to hide from the heat. Luckily the afternoon receptionist showed up at their regular shift at 3pm. During this whole time the management of the hotel did not respond to repeated phone calls and we were wondering if we should look for another hotel and if our booking made through the Choice app was valid. The alleged one-time lack of receptionist before 3pm repeated the following day, only to be partially resolved by the manager of the hotel occasionally popping in during morning hours for the next couple of days.

It took two days and two changing of rooms to find a room with hot shower water, actual air conditioning (not ventilation), and a safe that works. The bar and the terrace do not work (as publicized online and in the elevator of the hotel, see updates section) and the terrace is open only during breakfast times from 7-10am. As for the breakfast, try getting there closer to 7, as eaten food doesn't get replenished.

In the other Quality hotels there is a bar, a restaurant and a small shop, none of which exists here. A water cooker and a selection of instant coffee and teas in rooms are lacking too.

To conclude, I knew I was going to be out of my room 80% of the time. The deterioration of the hotel: the shabby look, worn out flags on the fasade, rusty hotel sign, ugly partially replaced carpeting in hallways, miniature TV with Italian-only channels and lack of restaurant and bar are hardly something that would make me not visit again. Putting the fact this is a Quality hotel aside, you really cannot expect much at this price point.

That said, a couple of things can hardly be ignored. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, it is almost impossible to sleep during the heatwave without air conditioning, at least some hot water is needed for the shower and it is unfair to advertise one thing (albeit at an agreeably low price point) and then massively underdeliver just because the price is low. That ticket cannot justify everything. There are better hotels for just a few euros more.

Unless you really don't have issues with any of those listed above or are using up your points (like me), I suggest splurging a little for better accommodation or at least calling ahead and making sure you get a good room. Like I mentioned, the sheets and rooms are very clean, there are rooms with AC and if you call ahead you should be fine. Just manage your expectation if you typically stay at Choice or Quality hotels as this one is a weak link in the chain. Literally. The group management of the chain in the States claim they would do something - time will tell if, when and what exactly.

Simply terrible service! We arrived just before noon and the front desk person was leaving to go in a 2 hour lunch break. There was no one to assist us with checking in or leaving our bags somewhere. Fridge was small. Bed was ok. TV signals were terrible. Cable doesn’t exist. Not 1 English Channel as my Italian was very limited. On checking out, front desk was supposed to book a taxi for us to the airport for a 6:20 am flight. That was not done and was left scrambling in the morning to find one. The previous day, they tried to encourage us to take a private shuttle to the airport for 70€ stating the taxi is not safe at that time of the morning. The only thing good about the place was the breakfast and the gentleman who served it. Very polite and the food was great! Very disappointed with Choice Hotels on this one.
