If you're looking for a nostalgic hotel experience, the Grand Continental might just take you back... to the 90s, when "budget-friendly" meant something entirely different. The receptionist greeted us with the enthusiasm of a can of tuna —zero smiles, zero warmth. We were left wondering if maybe they were testing a new "no smiles" policy.

Now, let's talk scent. You know that moment when you step into a room and think, "Wow, this somehow smells like a florist and a pharmacy at the same time"? Yeah, that's the Grand Continental’s secret sauce. The hotel pumps out so much floral and cough syrup combo that you could probably use it to disinfect an entire hospital. It's a strong scent, and not in a good way.

On the bright side, the rooms were clean—so, hats off to the housekeeping team! Unfortunately, the soaps and shampoos weren’t quite as pristine. After a quick lather, we found ourselves with rashes that could’ve been mistaken for a modern art project. Maybe they were trying to go for an industrial-strength vibe, but we were just trying to scrub off the scent from the air, not our skin.

The location is pretty decent, though—plenty of shops nearby, so if you're a fan of walking and carrying your shopping bags back to the hotel, you'll love it. That is, unless you want to park your car, because good luck with that! No parking and no valet service means you’re basically playing a game of “Find the Parking Spot” around the block.

The Grand Continental feels like a hotel that peaked around two decades ago. These days, it’s just a shadow of its former self, with a side of confusion and a whole lot of overpowering scents. Would I stay again? Only if I needed a good story for my friends.

I recently stayed at this place and, while the staff were friendly, I was disappointed with the overall cleanliness. The room and amenities were very dirty, with dust everywhere. The air conditioning unit was especially filthy, and every chair and table had visible dirt. We didn't use the private pool because it was too dirty to be appealing.

Management needs to ensure thorough cleaning before handing over the place to guests. The current state of maintenance is unacceptable and will only attract guests who are willing to compromise on hygiene. This place might be suitable for bachelors who don't mind the dirt, but it is not recommended for families with children.

Despite the attractive photos and videos online, the reality was quite different. Management should seriously focus on improving cleanliness to meet guests' expectations.

Upon arriving at my room, I found that there were no towels. I requested towels more than three times from reception and housekeeping, and they were delivered two hours after my initial request. The food was decent, but the service was slow. I also encountered issues with the safe in my room and had to wait over an hour for assistance. Overall, my stay was not satisfactory."

When I saw the name of the hotel, I thought it would be very high quality and decent. However, when we went to the hotel, there were no towels or slippers in the room. Although there were four of us staying at the hotel, we asked for towels but they could hardly bring one. Although it is a Muslim country, there was no prayer rug in the room and we asked for a prayer rug. It is a shame to provide such a service in such a beautiful and high quality country.

This hotel has very poor customer service. After we checked in, we went out directly after putting all our things in the room. When we returned to the hotel at night, we noticed a smell of cigarette smoke in our room. We decided to go down and ask the receptionist if they could transfer us to a non-smoking room. (We didn't know it was a smoking room earlier because we were in a hurry to go out.) However, when we asked the receptionist, they said that the hotel was fully booked and they couldn't transfer us to another room. This was very disappointing because they knew we were a family with kids. They should have taken the initiative to place us in a non-smoking room. Additionally, the receptionists were all rude and didn't even apologize for our inconvenience. Don't consider this hotel; it's just a waste of money.

Very bad experience. And very bad customer service from a receptionist named JOY who gave us a smoking room even though he is aware we are family. The 3 rooms we booked all smell cigarette. Hotel not recommended. There are more budget hotels out there better take time to check reviews before booking.

Diff. Flore room allotment for the family groups, even on single booking.
