ibis budget City Hotel in Hamburg

The location is great. Everything is reachable by walk.
Grocery store, bus and train station, downtown… just by few minutes walk.

Room are simple. Very simple BUT they are clean, they have enough for a sleep over.
Big plus was microwave, oven and silverware available at the reception area. For free.

The stuff was very helpful, nice and friendly. We experienced different shifts and they all were just nice.
Housekeeping didn’t rush us. ( we use to work in housekeeping so I know how frustrating it may be when someone check out on time 🫣)
So even for stay with kids and dogs I recommend.
Only thing I need to mention is the quality of towels. That was disappointing. But again, for the budget level I’m content it was “just” the towels.

Wonderful located hotel with good links to places in Hamburg. Wonderful size rooms, helpful reception and good ammenities. Will definitely be staying here again on future visits to Hamburg

Pros:
1. Very central location. Bus to hafen city is 7min walk away. You can also walk to speicherstadt easily. Central station is 8min walk away. Lots of restaurants, one asien grocery store nearby.
2.The breakfast on some days is good other days not so good. (Eggs and croissant was available only on one day and not for the next 2 days we stayed at the hotel).
3. Family rooms where they provide a baby bed and another bed on top for a small child to sleep in.
4.hot water can be obtained free of cost at the reception. There is also a microwave next to reception where you can heat up your food. Coffee vending machine also available.
5. There is lift available.

Cons:
1.Breakfast not so good on somedays (sss point 2 above).
2.The room has no AC and temperature is centrally controlled and for me the room was warm. When the windows will close there was a smell of stale air.
3. The hotel is right next to train station and throughout the night (with open windows) there was extreme noise of screeching train tires or loud sirens. Closing the windows reduced the noise but made room too hot and stuffy.
4.No hot water kettle, no dryer in rooms, no microwave, no safe, no ventilation in October.

One-star hotel, Hamburg hotel price is high, there are bunk beds, good for a family of three

Being very honest, the rooms make it to the name, they are very budget with the bare bare minimum.

But, it was ok. No major complaints.

Location is good but be careful at night, there are many homeless people in this area.

Overall I’m satisfied with my stay but I think next time I will spend a little more to have a more comfortable room…

The hotel is relatively close to Hamburg Central Station, but still requires about a 15-minute walk — not ideal if you’re carrying heavy luggage. The room was quite small, and unfortunately, it didn’t feel very comfortable during my stay.

It might be okay for a short stopover, but for a longer stay, I would prefer somewhere with a bit more space and comfort.

Super accommodating staff. Extreme budget hotel. No frills at all. But will do in a single night transitioning with travel. No late check in though. Must check in at the full Ibis.

Me and my sister stayed at Ibis Budget Hamburg St. Pauli Messe for a weekend trip and was really impressed. The location is perfect—just steps from the Reeperbahn, close to the harbour, and easy to reach by public transport. Ideal for exploring the city on foot.
The room was compact but very clean, quiet, and well laid out. It had everything we needed for a short stay.
The breakfast buffet was better than expected for a budget hotel—fresh bread, fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, and vegetarian options. Great way to start the day.
Staff were friendly and check-in was quick. There’s also vending machines if you need a late-night snack.
Overall, a great base for a weekend in Hamburg. If you're looking for something affordable, clean, and in a central location, this is a solid choice. Would definitely stay here again!
