The Grand Resort

Fantastic gem of a massive hotel. Loved the place - particularly the excellent and huge swimming pools and the excellent room Air conditioning. I was upgraded to a large and spacious pool view room on the 4th floor with balcony. I've been visiting Hurghada for over 15 years and this is one of the best hotels to date. All inclusive Food verges between ok and good - they do cater for a lot of people so at busy times expect some small issues like waiting for cups, tables, plates. But never too long.
Staff were generally very good (particularly bar and pool side staff - tip and you'll get royal and immediate service). Excellent Indian restaurant (in fact I'd say the best in Hurghada) that offers some meals free as part of the all inclusive , is based next door. I always ordered additional from the regular menu and reasonable prices.
Why I only offer 2 stars, despite all the great points above? :- The issues the hotel Needs to sort out is the incessant harassment of staff trying to get you to have a a la carte (where you pay) meal in one of their many restaurants. Whilst sitting on one of the many cafe areas I was accosted 4 times in 30 minute! Too much - leave us alone.
I visited reception on 4 different mornings requesting that my room phone be fixed so that I could order room service. Each or these 4 requests was not acted upon - this is a major reason the hotel gets only 2stars. Unacceptable to spend a large amount of your time queuing and making a compliant nearly every morning about the same issue and then being totally ignored!!!
Electrics in my room were haywire. Turning off certain light switches also turned off certain wall sockets. Took me a while to figure out how to power my gadgets - I got there in the end but only by unplugging the fridge!!
Despite claiming that one of the large pools was chilled - it wasn't. Both big pools were 33c on the day I left. Having one cooler and chilled would have been great!
The pool areas lacked enough sun loungers and umbrellas. They have loads of extra space so to get in more would be quite simple!! By 7:00am all
Loungers were taken.

That aside I do recommend this hotel but it really needs to take guest request much more serious - and also have a system for follow through - they didn't and this let's down the hotels great potential.

The location is okay, but a little far away from the main city of Hurghada. It‘s close to the airport (10 minutes drive) and it has a big pool but way too cold when you get in the first time. Even if it‘s 30 degrees Celsius outside, the pool feels like 16 degrees Celsius until your body accompanies with the cold water. The pool on other hand is a little bit dirty. If you stay still in the water, for example at one of the edges, try to locate some particles in the water. They look like white worms or like sperm. There were also some cases where I saw black thin worms. Very weird and awkward. I really don‘t know what those things were but those black worms were definitely moving on their own in the water.

The service is a little meh to be honest but at least they are trying to help you. I have seen better from other hotels…

The food is miserable… the same food was served everyday and most of the food is nothing for picky eaters. Cakes have been served a little different each day but they all tasted the same and artificial. I ended up ordering food for 3 days straight from other restaurants like Castello or Mac Mac with the talabat app. The food ordered was extraordinary (Tawook, Fettucini, etc.). At the Pool snack bar which is opened from 12:30 - 15:30 you can get Spaghetti Bolognese, Pizza and other stuff. The food came 20-30 minutes after ordering and was already cold and sometimes not cooked well.

You get 4 water bottles for every day and it is recommended to brush your teeth with one of the water bottles, as the tap water is heavily chlorinated. The minibar is filled with softdrinks but if you consider consuming one or more cans, you will be charged 2€ per can which is a lot compared to the local prices of shops outside the hotel. There is a starbucks next to it which is fairly cheap and has awesome shakes and even the RedBull Peach edition which costs about 1,50€! The hotel charges you way too much even for a Pizza Tuna they demand 9€! The Pizza doesn’t taste anything close to an authentic Italian pizza and looks like bread with sauce and cheap cheese on it.

The highlight of the hotel room was the bed and the interior was designed pretty well but that‘s about it. We also had cockroaches as special guests 2 days before departing back home. If we would have stayed a little longer, we would have already checked out and booked another hotel. This is disgusting and tells me the place is not clean.

If you want a real all inclusive deal without paying for everything then rather spend the money on a 5* hotel and get yourself comfortable with that. If you consider this hotel great, then you haven‘t experienced a real 5* hotel before.
