Hotel Valadier

2 stars because of a good location, but other than that this is a poor hotel. The rooms do not resemble the website. Moreover they feel free to put you in an adjacent building, maybe I got unlucky but my “upgraded room” was small (though I paid for an upgrade). Not even a chair in it. Poor quality and the noise in the room was quite unacceptable. Music all day and until 2am because there is a bar/restaurant/club in the building. Tossing of empty bottles and beer kegs to wake up to. The people in the hotel were friendly, but overall the building, rooms and amenities in this hotel are tired and poorly maintained. Rome ages well, but not this hotel. Rome has so much more to offer including better hotel for less.

The reception could do nothing regarding the music band and how loud it is. You can't sleep because of the loud music from the bar. Unfortunately I don't recommend staying at this hotel.

Not family friendly. I was charged $600 for a separate room or else they would not allow us to stay. I have two babies and a 7 year old. We could have fitted in one room. Additionally, there was no air circulation causing my son to cough. Rooms are small compared to other hotels in that area. I stayed in another hotel in that area with much better rooms and hospitality when we returned to Rome after our 7 day cruise.

I don't usually write bad reviews, but I had such a terrible experience here I couldn't not leave one. When we first walked into the hotel room, everything was small and crammed in. It was claustrophobic. In the bathroom, the toilet was placed behind the door making it difficult to get in and out. Everyone struggled to get in and out of the shower because of the awful layout. The decor looks as if it hasn't been changed for over twenty years and our room smelt of stale food.

When it came to sleeping, we could hear peoples conversations from outside. The windows weren't blocking any noise from cars or people. At 11pm at night, music was being blasted from the downstairs of the hotel ,so much so, that our room was vibrating. This awful cacophony continued until 4am in the morning!! When booking this hotel, nowhere does it mention that there is essentially going to be a night club going on in the "piano room" of the hotel. Everyone had a sleepless night and this has ruined our first few days in Rome.

Our experience was so bad, that we could not stay for another night. However when it came to asking for a refund for a sleepless night, the hotel had the audacity to tell us that a refund was not available. The hotel's solution was to move us up to a higher floor, but we had gone up to a higher floor when the music was playing and the noise was still awful. This was not an acceptable solution.

I do not recommend a visit here. I don't know how this is a 4 star.
