a&o Hamburg Reeperbahn

We booked our stay at A&O Reeperbahn through CTSReisen from 08/10/2024 to 11/10/2024, for our school trip, and I’d like to share our experience.

Firstly, I want to commend the staff for their professionalism. They remained helpful and accommodating, even though they seemed overwhelmed by so much work and workarounds. However, we did have an issue where the cleaning staff inadvertently took some personal items from our group, specifically a few Pfandflaschen. While their intent may have been to tidy up, a better approach might be a reward system for their good service.

Unfortunately, we faced several serious issues that were not accurately represented in our booking. We experienced significant security concerns when an intruder approached some of our female students - mostly minors. Additionally, some rooms were under construction, and the hostel was overbooked, according to the managers - likely due to miscommunication between your teams.

The cleanliness of the rooms was alarming. We found broken toilet seats and disturbing patches of black mold and fungus in the bathrooms—some were large enough to resemble modern art! A thorough deep and specialist cleaning is urgently needed.

Considering these severe issues, we believe a partial refund would have been a fair gesture of goodwill.

Furthermore, the recommended location raised significant concerns. Being situated in a red-light district was not adequately disclosed, and our 15- and 16-year-olds were frequently approached by individuals from the red-light industry, which posed serious safety risks. It would be wise to reconsider housing minors in this environment.

On a positive note, the kitchen facilities were a highlight. The food was fresh, and the breakfast area was enjoyable, although some tables could use leveling. The variety offered was excellent, and the staff's attentiveness was commendable.

It's a really cheap place, great location, even though it's in a highly active neighbour in Hamburg. We don't have issues about noise or cleaning.
As long as I only need a place to stay at night it works well for me, even when I need to stay late working, the co-working area works well.

I stayed in a single bedroom, it was small but fine for a short staying. It was clean but with thin walls, that make you listen what is happening in the hall and a bit of the street noise. This hotel is located in Reeperbahn that is a place with a very active night live with many bars and night clubs.

Oh, well, what to say. It's cheap but in a great location. Went to a concert at Freiheit 36 so for that it was perfect. Room was basic but did the job. Used online check in and out so can't rate the service, staff seemed nice though.
