Hotel The Building

Booked this hotel in Rome for four nights, the hotel is supposed to be a four star hotel but the only thing that you get for four stars is the price. The pool is not heated, the pictures online are misleading, the rooms do not have heat or a/c, only fancy light controls that make it appear as a luxury when in reality the place is falling apart. Also, quite disappointed with the way management treat guests and staff, in short I do not recommend.

Keeping in mind that a 4-Star hotel in Europe is like a 2-Star hotel in USA, overall we had a good stay. Staff friendly, nice atmosphere. Do not book economy rooms as they are very small (more than expected from Europe). You’re better off booking a suite if you wis to stay within the area.

If you want an air conditioner in your room- BOOK OTHER HOTEL

In this hotel to turn ON/OFF the air conditioner you will need to call to the reception (if they butter to answer you) and begging them to do this. you will not receive a remote control.

If you wan a clean towel every day- BOOK OTHER HOTEL

You receive only one towel per day. If you want to shower before the checkout- you don’t receive a towel because they will tell you that towel doesn’t supply on the last day.

If you want to be close to the city center- BOOK OTHER HOTEL
It about 30 min drive from the GOOD city center.

If you want a nice breakfast- BOOK OTHER HOTEL
At this hotel you will need to pay for eggs for example. You will only get the basic food. 1 water glass, one coffee..

If you want a good spa/pool- BOOK OTHER HOTEL

Very poor light in the room.

No toilet paper.

DON’T WAIST MONEY ON THIS HOTEL!

Our dinner at the restaurant had the worst service I have ever seen, with a drunk waiter being rude and making fun of us, and apparently trying to cash in our bill for himself. See below the query I sent to which they haven't bother replying, when we complaint at reception they didn't even seemed surprised and looked like this was not the first time.

On top of this their breakfast was sad and poor, you need to ask reception for any change on the AC of the room(with 30 degrees celcius outside), and they are actually 30 min walking to city centre.

"We are staying in room [], under []. We had dinner in your restaurant tonight and would like to let you know about an unpleasent experience we had with one of your waiters.

At the beginning of the night we ordered one glass of wine and one coke. The waiter brought two glasses of wine, I stated I didnt want to drink, yet he poured wine in both glasses. I said I don't drink alcohol and he made a joke about not drinking and driving, we found it really rude to be pushed to drink after several times we told him no, and the coke never arrived.

When we finished the dinner we asked for the bill and the waiter wrote it down on a piece of paper to calculate the amount. Chicken curry, tagliatelle tarting,one glass of white wine and water, 39 euro. We were waiting 40 minutes for the bill but it never arrived.

Everything was closed out and we went to the kitchen door to pay for the bill, the guy didn't seem to understand what we wanted, seem to be looking for the piece of paper he wrote. We told him we just wanted to pay and leave but he couldn't articulate what the problem was, I even asked him to tell me in Italian but he seemed lost.

He had to enter our dinner on the system while we were in front of him, it seemed that he didn't do it before, and we paid and left without even waiting for the change.

Absolutely appaling experience with a waiter that to be honest seemed to be drunk, waiting till past eleven for a bill on a Saturday evening, and being laughed at for not drinking wine."
