We just left yesterday and the experience was a very pleasant one. We were allowed to enter our rooms early, the staff at the front desk were always so very helpful, assisting us with any question we had and making sure we were comfortable. The staff attending to our bags and providing coffee and tea were very welcoming as well. Breakfast was exceptional for Europe breakfasts and there was so much range. You just can't beat the location, you can walk to all the sites, plenty of eateries and shops. To the staff who made our experience so memorable, thank you! We loved Istanbul!

Was clean air-conditioned rooms. Nice sauna and massage facility. Sauna and steam room free if you're staying more than 3 nights. 3nights for 6 with breakfast €900. Fantastic location 5min walk to Ayo-Sofia, blue Masjid, topkapi palace and grand bazaar. Booked wheelchair for grandma €20/day. Booked taxi for 6, 8hour tour around the city €180. Bosporus boat tour for 6 €160 with breakfast. Food is relatively expensive. Istanbul is a beautiful city with a rich history, wonderful place to visit.

It has all what you need as a tourist, all the basics, very clean, very welcoming and smiling people working there, in the center of of the middle of the down town. The Location is close almost to all of the historic sites.

Awful experience

It was my first visit of Istanbul and totally disappointed with this hotel as photos were against reality unfortunately.
Safety of building really was matter as walls were thin and marks of age and cracks are all over the building , rooms , ceiling and you can clearly hear voice and sounds from other rooms plus noises during all day from early morning until late , due to building concentration in the hotel street . One word No rest at all !!! I was taking breakfast in my plate which noticed water was dropping to my plate from ceiling. I will post the photos . Photos in website are very shiny and clean and new which in reality are very old , disappointing and about breakfast even totally different photos which was very low quality. Pool so filthy which we didn’t dare to use at all . Sauna and steam wasn’t bad apart from cleanliness and very early closing time in the evening . Location wasn’t our priority and it is located near some mosques and bazar . Which it was all over Istanbul as far as I found it , not big deal . We paid 600 £ for 7 nights which is really so high for this place ( it was on sale !!!!) not worth at all . No facility for disabled as ram in front of building is very sharp and no other facilities as well . Our first room was extremely small and dark which I asked them to changed a bit bigger room and same problem was at that room too , noise , unsafe and both mini bar almost not working and warm .

The only positive thing I can be honest it was nice staff especially cleaner lady .
Which so friendly and helpful who I appreciated. To be honest. If we could refund never continue to stay in this place and really were very upset & experienced worse holiday so far in our life so far . With this money you can stay in very nice and great quality of hotel even in uk . I really surprised how could be 4 star hotel this place .

I booked a room at Grand Fortune Hotel & Spa through StayForLong, based on the beautiful pictures I saw online. Upon arrival, I was informed that I had an economy room in the basement with no windows, which was completely different from what was advertised. To get a room similar to what I thought I had booked, I was forced to pay an additional £90.
To make matters worse, there was no water in the bathroom. When I reported this to the reception, they claimed the entire area had no water, which was a blatant lie. A nearby hotel just steps away had no such issues. Additionally, there was no electricity, resulting in me getting stuck in the dark in the lift.
The room I upgraded to, which I saw in the pictures when purchasing, was shockingly small. To top it all off, random people walked into our room for no reason, even though housekeeping had already completed their service.
This hotel is a complete scam. Many other guests I spoke with had the same experience. Despite being advertised as a 4-star hotel, it deserves 0 stars. Avoid this place at all costs!

Great fortune hotel was amazing they always helped us. It’s close to everywhere staff really helpful especially Burhan. He has really good character he always solve our problems. Other staff also very good.

I think the 1star reviews are unwarranted here. Firstly the service is great - staff are really friendly & professional - hotel manager was especially nice.
Realistically you’re paying for the location - we stayed in Taksim the first night but wanted to be close to the tours for our next two nights so we stayed here at The Great Fortune. It’s super close to Hagia Sofia, The Blue Mosque, The Grand Bazaar and the Basicala Cistern. Also great transport links the T1 tram takes you most places and there’s also the train nearby so you can go to the airport easily enough without getting a taxi! Yes the hotel is on a not so cute side street and you’re bang in the middle of tourist central so it does get noisy. I’d recommend travelling to different neighbourhoods for better food/restaurant options that aren’t tourist traps like the ones nearby.
Rooms:
We had the superior double - it was not that superior but was big enough considering we were out most of the time. I definitely feel this was more like a 3 star hotel - a budget “Holiday Inn” or “Premiere Inn” - and nowhere near a 4star hotel in terms of comfort and amenities. You can hear everything in the rooms, from outside to fellow guests and staff walking past. The bathroom was small and the glass door is thin so get ready to hear your travel partner doing all their business in the toilet. The beds are ok but not the most comfortable, there’s no mood lighting / lamps so at night it was very bright.
Breakfast: again I think the awful reviews are exaggerated- breakfast was basic but fine - they had a selection of everything from breads, cakes, to fruit, eggs, cereal and salad. Coffee, tea and juice was also available. We didn’t eat much here because instead we chose to go and eat breakfast at the many incredible restaurants around Istanbul. The breakfast area is small and basic but does have lovely views overlooking Istanbul’s skyline.
Can’t comment on the Spa as we were mostly out and about and didn’t have time for it.
I do think it’s overpriced for what it is but like I said you’re paying for the area. That being said with Istanbul having such good public transport you could probably stay anywhere in the city.

I do not recommend this hotel, the photo does not correspond to reality. Booked through Booking but they deleted the booking, probably not to leave a review. Everything is dirty, battered and the breakfasts are not very attractive. The staff cheated for 20 euros. They offer incomprehensible services in an intrusive manner.

Initially went because of good reviews and location. Soon regretted this! By far the worst hotel I have stayed in. They will give you an economy room but will not show pictures on the website. This room is a basement with no windows, no A/C, no fridge and no wardrobe. I had insects on the floor and water damp on the ceiling. Staff have no grasp of english and will fob you off. The card reader for the door was faulty and i lost count of the times i had to get the porter to let me in. Pay extra and get a better hotel

This place is really really bad like the review before me, they probably paid for reviews. Book at your own risk
1) breakfast is disgusting
2) the pool is the size of a bathtub, dirty and smells like mold everywhere
3) the in room safe is not bolted down, they don't care
4) someone came into my room while I was sleeping, was the people from the floor above me, WOW incredible, I did not sleep all night and they brush off like nothing happened. They don't care
5) in a very shady area the taxis can not come to front entrance
Avoid this hotel
